Total investment to what we use now? Even if we have several systems?

I am glad you did not ask for amount in 'software" (LP's, CD's etc)

Are you asking about home or work systems? :D

I find that it is very difficult to give a figure in these situations. Do I use the actual amount that I paid (which could be very little for items bought decades ago), or how much that old purchase price relates to in todays money, or the likely price today? Even if I can decide what purchase price to use do I convert it into yankee dollars at the rate prevailing at the time, or do I use a current rate?

I would use the amount actually paid at the time of purchase adjusted for inflation and converted to yankee dollars at the current exchange rate, but we'll have to see what Javier says.

Yep. Let's all just consider how much money we have invested in our systems. I know I was scared when I added the numbers... :D

That's not a bad idea at all, Peter. I think it's the only way to make a fair assesment of our investments...

Good grief! I think Ashton will take care of the options in this poll so as that you can vote, too :D

Nice distribution around the $5k-$10k point. The good thing about this forum is that folks appear to be voting honestly. Two new categories I notice.

I noticed. Voting was easy before because my main system is over $20k. But even adding in my bedroom system, all the valves in my stash, my portable systems and all the analogue gear I have in storage in Oz doesn't quite push me into the next category (though it was embarassing to see the final figure!).

Same here. I'd go up one category, but not quite up to the top.
