I really like the new album - despite the electronica / lack of warmth

The cuts are solid - her seductive and cerebral sides showing through.
Very strong songs and nice flow

Masseduction sounds like Fripp on steriods

Can't wait to hear this in a live setting

when is the last of the euro dates?

I have great tickets for Detroit that I can't make (a Tuesday night) if anyone is interested

Knoxville and Durham road trip right after Thanksgiving on this end
    perhaps Houston

Annie is on The Graham Norton Show on BBC One tonight.
Clips generally turn up on You Tube pretty promptly.
In the meantime, here's a still from her performance, and on the couch...

Nice call on Fripp...I got major "Scary Monsters" vibes from parts of this album.

Got VIP tix to the Durham show. Can't wait!

Annie has a interview on youtube from a few years back where the focus is bowie

She states that one of her favorite songs is It's No Game with Fripp's frenetic guitar

    Yes!

    A New Orleans tour date!

The Civic beats House of Blues in New Orleans

bigger venue - great atmosphere - nice balcony with bar

But she won't be climbing around the outside of the balcony at that show.

no rail and it's 25 feet up

here was one of her antics from the last tour

    Oct 2014

the video catches her half way across her climbing along the outside railing of the balcony.
she pours a guy's beer over her shoulder on the crowd below at 9 sec
passes directly in front of my friend and I - obscured by the lighting rig and fan at 35 sec
then lays a huge kiss on a woman slightly to the left.
lowers herself down a pipe - falls in the audience and is bleeding from the event

Though very tempting from a seat perspective, I really couldn't justify coughing up an additional $200 for a pair of VIP tickets. Did you go for it, Tom?

I'm also wondering whether the Q&A is fielding questions from fans or she's got a pre-set list of questions that she answers. I'll probably kick myself for not doing it but I've got other concert tickets to buy this week!
Oh well - and I may yet cave in. If not, I'll always have the Brooklyn and Knoxville memories...

The new album is pretty, pretty good, but to me the songs with steel guitar make me hope she goes in that direction for an entire album in the future. Those songs were beautiful.

    funny you should ask

New Orleans VIP made no sense as the show is general admission standing room only with a nice balcony - first come first serve seats.

    I did one better

I decided a fun trip to your fine city, front row center vip and a few days enjoying all the wonders of Ashville.

Let's hope Annie is fielding questions from the audience

or it might as well be her Ernie Ball StV Custom giving the patent Q&A and Photo Op sessions

Hah! That actually would be pretty funny.

Well, that's awesome re Asheville - and while that really makes me want to go for an upgrade, I also feel like I don't need to as I'll live vicariously through you! I'll wave from the cheap seats if you don't mind consorting with the riff raff ☺

Seriously, PM if you like when you head over - not sure how well all the wonders of Asheville will be holding up in the middle of February but we've been known to have the odd 60-degree day then. And I certainly hope you like beer 'cause we have lots of it!

Really enjoying Masseduction, but am also having issues with the vinyl.

I have the standard pink one from Amazon UK. First one had bad crackle on the last track of side 1 and last 2 of side. Got a replacement but has issues on the same tracks, I guess noticeable because they are quieter songs, but it doesn't seem quite as bad as the first.

However, one thing I notice which is quite strange is how rough the surface of the vinyl is! I put the record in a slim antistat sleeve and if you run your fingers lightly over the it kind of feels lumpy all over - could others comment if theirs is the same?

Sounds like a typical GZ pressing to me! I'll check for lumpyness when I get home but mine is quite noisy in parts. I haven't cleaned mine yet though.

does the crackle sound like newspapers being ripped?

    This could be non fill
an error when they press the record and not enough vinyl fills the mold
it can look like a string of white pearls

    I'd return it

I cleaned my first copy before ordering a replacement, nothing improved.

I still have the first copy to see if that has the raised nodules / lumps also.

Thanks but I don't think that is it, just general clicks, ticks and pops..

She has guts. Swans can be pretty aggressive, "poke your eyes out" birds. Maybe it's domesticated?

It goes a bit nuts and starts eating her dress in a later bit of the video, but she keeps her game face on. Total pro.
