It will never stop from this point forward. The next 10 years are going to be quite sobering & depressing.
I hust watched my Twilight Time Blu Ray of Two For The Road for the first time a few days ago to pay tribute to Albert Finney. I enjoyed listening to the Stanley Donen audio commentary on the disc. Crazy to think that two of the three primary people involved in the film would pass away so close to one another.
For Boomers and Gen Xer's you mean. My mother would probably say "hold my beer" on this particular topic. RIP of course to Mr. Donen but he was 94 years old. Had a long and (hopefully) fulfilled life, and was well respected in the film community.
I wasn't an expert on his work, but I do own copies of Charade, Saturn 3, and Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. RIP
Although on the more positive side, I notice that a lot more of these public figures seem to be living to well above average ages, many staying in fairly good nick well into their 90's.
I always thought it was a shame Cary Grant didn't retire after making Charade; it would've been the perfect note to end his career on, instead of the execrable Father Goose and the boring Walk, Don't Run. Charade was the perfect combination of Paris, comedy, romance, whodunit, action and Ned Glass. RIP, Mr. Donen, you done good.
