Calling out to Star Trek fans....

I'm a fairly new Star Trek fan and I'm trying to get a list together of the Top 10 best Star Trek (TOS) episodes. I only want TOS episodes listed. No Offshoots.

    Thanks!

The Trouble with Tribbles should be on that list.

I would probably ultimately pick 20....

And probably I'll choose what most people name.

Anymore from Season 3? How about "Spock's Brain"?

As far as I know it has not yet been aired as a regular episode of the original series in German tv. I must have seen it on video somewhere. Pretty weird.

Most Treekies including me consider series 3 the weakest of the 3 years easily.

A female alien in Go Go boots steals Spoks Brain (Spock's Brain)

A shoot out at the OK Corral (Spectre Of The Gun)

Space Hippies take over the Enterprise (The Way To Eden)

Spock's Brain is wonderful, in a "so bad it's good" kind of way. Unlike The Way To Eden and And The Children Shall Lead which are unwatchable.

My favourite third season ep. is Spectre Of The Gun - has a real Twilight Zone feel to it.

    Series 3 better episodes:

    The Enterprise Incident
    The Tholian Web
Let That Be Your Last Battlefield
    Whom Gods Destroy

Star Trek? Oh I'd suggest you watch the whole thing. It's 3 seasons. Sure there are great moments and awful moments, great eps and terrible eps, but it's classic for better and worse - experience it all. There aren't many shows I'd say that for. Original Trek, Farscape, Fawlty Towers... just go ahead & do 'em all.

Besides. Part of the fun of gabbing about the series is trashing the bad stuff. ;)

I agree with most of the picks above. Even the crappy ones are worth watching to make the the good ones look that much better.

Just watched "Journey to Babel" (for about the thousandth time) last night. I've gotta say that that's one of the best ones they made. You've got everything in there--political intrigue, Jim kicking alien *** despite a knife wound, Spock-heavy plot, Saarek and Amanda--D.C. Fontana is the High Priestess of the Trek universe.

"Requiem for Methusela" is another overlooked episode. Written by Jerome Bixby, it explores an idea that would later end up in the movie "The Man From Earth," as well as "Highlander."

"The Immunity Syndrome" is a pretty cool concept. Great Jim/Spock/Bones relationship builder episode.

"Errand of Mercy" is one of my top faves. The turnaround at the end still works after multiple viewings. The acting is top knotch in this one too.

If you want to see a good compilation of all the best, see the Futurama epsiode "Where No Fan Has Gone Before." Awesome!

Good list. But again, if I had it to do over I'd watch 'em all, and in (production) order. It's not serialized much if at all, but it still makes more sense from a creative standpoint to watch them as it develops (and occasionally regresses).

Pretty good list but one I would put in is:

The Menagerie 2 part episode from series 1. Essential Star Trek IMO.

11 or not, can't argue too much with what's here. Why don't you just get all the discs and make your own choices?

I love the City on the Edge of Forever. This episode aired long before time massage was compulsory in the Star Trek movies (First Contact, The Movie).

In a computer store in the early nineties I saw a PC Screensaver that cycled different Star Trek missions and included 'The Guardian of Forever'. It stated that United Federation of Planets had isolated the location of the 'Guardian' and basically banned -anyone- from going there. I thought it was very cool at the time but (of course) didn't pick it up.:shake:

Literally awesome concept. Among the greatest on screen, ever IMH. The Guardian in its desolate ruins at "the Edge of Forever" exists in a certain place of its own in my mind if you know what I mean.
