So I just left my local record store, and I finally looked at the vinyl section. I feel so stupid! They had all of my favorite albums, for the same price as the CDs that I bought! Lol & they had a $1 vinyl section. I was so heated. I could've been collecting this whole time.

Cool thing is though, I saw a chick checking out Physical Graffiti, I told her "In My Time of Dying" is the greatest thing on that album. She was like, "man I dig 'Kashmir', the strings are killer". It was a cool moment. We briefly discussed Zeppelin III.

Can't wait to start collecting. Now I have to find a cheap record player. FYE has one for $30. That's great I guess.

Sometimes your posts are more like solipsistic thought bubbles or diary entries than thread topics. Is there is question or a subject lurking here? Please clarify.

Not really any questions. But if you want to share a story on what it was like when you started collecting, that would be nice.

If you need a cheap player buy used. You can probably find a Dual for under 100

She was with a guy lol. I'm not that ruthless, ya know? Besides I would've just used her for my vinyl needs.

Used can fetch you some good stuff for a bargain price. New + decent will probably run you a few hundreds dollars minimum.

If the topic is starting a vinyl collection there have been tons of useful threads on the subject, for example:

    http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/vinyl-collecting.71065/

    http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/help-me-build-a-vinyl-collection.269158/

    http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/finally-entered-the-world-of-vinyl.269495/

Likewise LOTS of thread on the best inexpensive TTs and cartidges over in Audio Hardware.

Everybody’s free to breeze with the sleaze of discussing whatever they want, and I have no problem with Jarvius’s shameless non-specificity and general free-floating Dudeness. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single whatever — same with collecting vinyl.

I think thats the beauty of it. There's always something fresh to listen to. Besides, that's just half of my vinyl.

The record store where I seen the vinyls, is located in Ocean Springs. The FYE store is in Mobile.

It's a long strange trip m'man. Nothing to do but dig and have fun. My best advice is to listen to your ears, inspect everything ( that isn't sealed ) for condition, listen to records in the shop if a table is provided and let your musical taste be your guide.

  22. And don't forget to hit the thrift shop every once in awhile. You'll be amazed at what you can find there for a buck and under! Yours is a big country with lots of interstate movement; many surprises are lurking!

But the advice above re. buying a used but quality turntable is gold! It will be highly rewarding and probably last forever!
