Haha, yeah at the start I was all "oh god it's a Crosley", but after that I was "oh thank god it's a Crosley"!

He should have bought a sealed copy of LZ 2 for this project.

    Cool concept.

He didn't adjust the VTA for the extra thickness of the molded record on top of the commercial one.
And, he needs the "yellow suit" guy to help him on cleaning!

I can't believe The Beatles' albums haven't been re-released on resin yet.

What I want to know is how good of a cleaning did the silicone perform on that LP when it was pealed off.

This is way cool! I'm not surprised the he gets basically good results. I used to work with plastics; silicone can capture very fine detail. At any rate, it's far superior to 3D-printing records:

I wouldn't expect that ease-of-use was his motivation. I think that it must have been a combination of two things that we believed as a teens in the '70s: taping albums preserves them from wear, and reel tapes were the best quality tape format.

The really cool part is repurposing an innocent maker-movement experiment for intergenerational-hostility "hipster" mockery that's as old as the hills.

    :help:
