Stereolab's official twitter posted an amazing update this morning!

"Stereolab will undertake an extensive reissue campaign covering albums from 1993's Transient Random Noise-Bursts With Announcements through to 2004's Margerine Eclipse. All 7 albums will be reissued throughout 2019. Keep ‘em peeled for news of the live return of Stereolab."

amazing news, saw them live a couple of times in the 90's, and they were great.

Worst case it might require a road trip to Chicago- certainly Stereolab are worth it!

They've definitely been to Cincy before.
Or at least across the river in Newport, KY!

and great hopes that Tim and Laetitia can get along ... other wonder is whether Andy Ramsay will drum or will it be back to the past with Joe Dilworth, who has been with Tim in Cavern of Anti-Matter?

    Saw them four times:

    -- 2000 in Knoxville w/ Sonic Youth
    -- 2004 in Nashville w/ Mice Parade
-- 2006 in Chapel Hill w/ Sam Prekop & Archer Prewitt
    -- 2008 in Atlanta w/ Atlas Sound

After a decade, it would be great add another show to the list!!

I must admit I fell out of love with Stereolab after Dots and Loops, so maybe this is a good opportunity to catch up with those missing years....

There are some great things post-Dots and Loops. To me, a good percentage of Cobra, Sound Dust and Margerine Eclipse are wonderful, and I am also a fan of the singles collection Fab Four Suture. I am very interested to see what kind of mixed setlist the groop will give us!

I've never heard of any indication that there's bad blood there. They broke up five years before the band split.

Just as an aside, the last Tim Gane thing I listened to, was his early 80's harsh electronics outfit Thee Un-Kommuniti, and the their 1983 tape for Broken Flag, Mindretch - quite a world away from Stereolab. Curious space-age bachelors proceed with caution !

I don't have the issue on me at this moment but I seem to remember Tim Gane interviewed for The Wire in the 1997, talking about his discovery of Martin Denny's music on old Throbbing Gristle live tapes, forging a nice connection I think, between TG and Stereolab...

You are going to lose your mind. This album sounds so good on vinyl -- one of the best sounding LPs in my collection.

Finally, I'll get to fill in the gaps. This is a much needed reissue campaign. I wonder if they'll expand Emperor to 2 lps like the dodgy 1972 reissue?
