Steve, have you ever added compression during mastering?

Just curious if there's ever been anything that you needed to compress. If there was what compressor did you use?

    Thanks. :)

    Jamie,

    In a word, no.

BUT, and this is a big but ("like yer ex-girlfriend")... I use a compressor when mastering stuff that I've mixed myself, preferring to compress during mastering as opposed to doing it during mixing. That way the squash ratio is not in stone..

So, I've never compressed a finished mix by someone else during mastering.

When I do it on my own stuff it's always a Teletronix LA2-A or Fairchild (like this one). I've used other limiters and squashers for novelty effect (Meek, etc.)
