    Steve is this true

In this auction the seller states that there were only 2,000 copies ever made for "Fresh Cream" and that the stamper was destroyed. If it's not true maybe you could send him an informative email. That would blow his mind!:D

Steven is being "tight-fingered" this morning. :)

The first pressing of "Fresh Cream" included a bonus track of the monaural "live" mix of "Rolling And Tumbling". This version sounds very different from the stereo version. It was mixed without reverb of any kind.

At any rate it was on there for a little while, and then removed. So, the first DCC pressing is the only place to find this little gem!

Unless you have a British mono original of course....

(Forget the Atlantic mono LP, it sounds truly dreadful).

Yeah, I know about this. I brought a DCC vinyl copy from Red Trumpet during the holidays (advertised as the one with "all" the bonus cuts) but alas it was the later one. Still worth it's weight as amazing though...

Did you tell Peter that they sent you the wrong one? I'm sure they will take care of you...

Peter (from Red Trumpet) was very nice to contact me about this. I didn't mean by my post any thing negative about Red Trumpet (I'm a regular customer and love their service). I just was saying that I was disappointed that the wrong one was sent. I never contacted them about it because I wasn't aware that it was the wrong one for some time. It was during the time when my mother in-law passed away and my wife decided to leave (very terrible time). Anyway, thank you Peter for looking into this...

    All the best,

    Todd

Yes he is. I was very surprised when I saw the e-mail when I signed on a little while ago. I just really made a passing comment about a little mistake 6 months ago and he went to the trouble to contact me about it. Peter, thank you again!

Ron & Peter at Trumpet are tops. They've done right by me 100%. Very personal service and they both have a very good memory.

Rare to find such hard working guys. Thanks, Trumpet.

Peter from Red Trumpet is an amazing guy. I went to Redtrumpet.com to look up my old order (to give him the info) and also to get their phone number and he already input a replacement to be sent out on my order status page. I spoke to him on the phone and personally thanked him. Peter, thank you again!

    All the best,
    Todd

Jeez, Todd. I knew I could fool Hoffman, but I'm surprised I got you too. ;)

Where I grew up there was a grocery store, a family business that even today has only three branches. When you got there, a person not only said hello (of course he knew most customers by name), but got you a shopping cart. (Carts with damaged wheels were repaired, not kept in service.) Thirty feet inside the door was a coffee maker -- you were invited to take a free cup in a real mug, which you would give to the cashier when you checked out. If you asked where something was, a 16-year old who was unfailingly polite would say, "Please follow me," and he would show you exactly where the pickled vanilla leaves were. When you arrived at the checkout line, if you were waiting behind somebody -- even just a single person -- they would open a new aisle for you, and another teenager would unpack your cart for you while you finished your coffee. Then they would bag the groceries and ask if you wanted to pick them up or carry them with you. If you wanted to pick it up, another of the legions of friendly young fellers was polite and courteous in asking, "Would you like this in the back seat or the trunk?" No tipping was allowed, obviously.

This was not in the 1940s, it was in the 1970s and 1980s, and the stores thrive today with exactly the same level of service. The only difference I noticed about a year ago was that they don't take IOUs from their regular customers anymore, but you can pay by credit card, which you didn't do 20 years ago.

When I met my wife and she begain shopping there (before we moved), we realized something: it wasn't that the service at Sunset Foods was so good, but that others just didn't care as much. Everything they did at Sunset was easy and pleasant, and they took pride in their work. They didn't just say, "How can we sell more groceries?" They honestly thought of reasons that people would actually LIKE to be in their stores, and tried to enact them.

Even though we sell music in an industry where most businesses are good to their customers, I want Red Trumpet to be like Sunset Foods. I'm sure they make mistakes, and we make our share and then some, but what I really want is to have customers recognize that we take pride in doing what we can for people, and when we make mistakes, I want us honestly to try to make them right.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for all the nice words everybody has written. I'll send you a couple of the really angry customers next time they call!

    Take it easy!

I'll agree with all. Peter's service is way beyond reproach, and #1 in my book.

Last year, when I was ordering for the very first time from an on-line retailer, I spoke with Peter directly and wanted a specific ELP album that was available from Zounds Germany on gold cd. While I was talking to Peter someone had just put it in their shopping cart on-line and me paying by MO figured oh well I almost had it. Well Peter says to me "No problem, it's pulled for you" and I reply "No way! I thought the other person had it?" Peter says to me "It wasn't paid for yet, just sitting in his shopping cart whereas yours is a definate sale." So Peter made a first time on-liner, a believer! Do you remember this sale Peter?

No doubt I will order again from Red Trumpet as they are really a class act and their customers are the most important commodity to them. Thanks again Peter.;)

    Peter,

Thank you for sharing your memories of Sunset Foods (sounds like a great store). I think you and Red Trumpet are a wonderful service and the care and quality you provide for your customers is very evident. Thank you for going the extra 100 miles with all that you do.

    All the best,

    Todd

I've gotta put my 2 cents in too on this and agree that Red Trupet is a first class site for buying from and Peter is one of the nicest guys I've ever dealt with. And, to once again congratulate him on the baby due at the end of next week.:D

Hi, Dave. What a wonderful posting, and thanks for the nice words!

I do remember that sale, but I hope you'll permit me to make one amendment to your recollection, as my memory differs just slightly. In many cases, people will put items into shopping carts and will "abandon" those carts -- no big deal, this happens all the time. But our database allows me to track every available piece of software we carry, and often I can find a cart that was abandoned some time ago, and just cancel it. (In other words, if we have 25 copies of "Joe Bigboy in Vegas" on the shelf, I can tell that there are 22 available, one in a cart for Bill, one in a cart for Stan, and one in a public cart that was created in February. We have a "daemon" that kills old carts and replenishes the items, but there are occasions when we override it. This is a great system, if I may say so, one that we wrote ourselves.)

More accurately, if I recall correctly (and my mind is not getting any younger, so I could be wrong :)), in your case I saw in our database that I could re-order the item, and the other customer was waiting for another item anyway, so there would be no harm in helping you out on that one.

Just didn't want to leave the impression that we would rob ... uh ... Peter ... to pay ... Dave!

Thanks again. You guys are too kind.

    Take it easy!

Oh, great, now THAT cat's out... but seriously, thanks all (and especially Mike -- I will deal with you personally!). It will be our second -- we have a daughter who just turned three. Don't be surprised if I disappear for a little while, and then I start posting new items at 3:41 A.M.!

    Take it easy!
