Any Steve Miller Band compilation (and especially a 2-disc set) that can't find room to include the incandescent "Quicksilver Girl" (from SAILOR) is just bizarre, imho.

He is definitely an artist in need of a catalog overhaul. I would like to see a complete album box...this new hits comp is redundant to say the least!

No segue from "Fly Like An Eagle" to "Wild Mountain Honey" on the deluxe edition I see. :sigh:

The Anthology 2-lp set is really imo the best collection of pre-Joker material. It's been expertly needle dropped into my music server, as a keeper. Love that set - definitive.

They did put one song from those two albums on disc 1 of the 2 cd set : "Journey From Eden". That's the one song from those 2 albums that was previously on the old "Anthology" set from 1972. Must be the only song Steve cares for from those two albums.

I like Rock Love which was a single from that album and is never included on his compilations.

    An audiophile version of "Abracadabra".

    Finally.

I've got the import 'Greatest Hits' and for a single disc I like it better than the single disc version of this new release.

yeah, that's pretty awful. I was hoping for "A collection of fire and fury like the world has never seen"

I guess I'm the only one missing Wide River.
It's far from his best song, but it was a big comeback hit, his last successful release, AND it sounds closer to his 70s hit material than any of the 80s songs included.
Seems very odd to omit it....

Wonder just how vintage the live tracks are. Streamed "Space Cowboy" - Steve intros it by saying"we're going to take you back to 1968" and the recording doesn't have a '70s vibe to my ears.

That was my first thought looking at the track list! Cry Cry Cry and Stranger Blues are from that album...but Wide River at least saw some radio play. I agree, it is the closest he came to a "pop hit" after Abracadabra.

But I am hoping for a remix of the album version this time instead of the cut down radio edit we are all so used to hearing ...

The single is different than the album. A real rarity.

My first thought looking at the tracklisting! It's a cool song and it certainly got enough airplay around here.

Enough with that stupid ugly horse artwork.

And it was included on Young Hearts: Complete Greatest Hits. Apparently "Ultimate" and "Complete" have different meanings.

For those of us yearning, crying, longing for his earlier stuff like "Recall the Beginning.." or his great live work from the 60s: WE CAN'T HAVE IT.
Miller's probably inserted some Jerry Lewis-type clause in his will that prevents The Corporation from releasing that stuff even posthumously. There's a killer show from the Carousel Ballroom 1968 which includes the "Children of the Future" suite and WE CAN'T HAVE IT.:realmad:
Who am I to question his motives?

You CAN have Recall the Beginning. It was released in Japan this year. A bit pricey but we'll worth it if you're a fan of that great album.
