But it's a completely different performance, and much shorter at 3:44 - original is 6:41. It *might* be a contemporaneous alternate take but I doubt it. Only a couple of the pre-Joker tracks sound anywhere close to my memory of the originals; I suspect they are all re-recordings.

Good luck matching the magic of "Anthology":

He was more than a "Joker" back then; a real musical chameleon.

Hope the mastering matches the quality of the music.

Based up upon the personnel listed, it looks like quite a few of the live tracks might be more recent live recordings. However, no recording dates are listed.

I think they are remixes. Disappointing that the live tracks a current rather than vintage.

Number 5 is my favorite Steve Miller album. Love the original vinyl.

Steve apparently hates Number 5. I think it was released to buy time while he recovered from a car wreck.

The unreleased live versions of tracks and outtakes are not on the box set. There might be a few others as he has released some albums since the box set but I haven't compared the track listings.

There is nothing in the liner notes about recording dates. I am guessing they are re-recordings.

Seasons if I recall correctly is just Miller solo.

sounds like skimpy liner notes. you'd think it would have some info of the unreleased stuff

All they have is listings of the musicians that appeared on each song so you can figure some approximation of recording dates from that information but not the exact dates or locations.

However in the case of Seasons, it is just Miller solo so there is really no way to tell. I am just assuming it is a re-recording.

Capitol is reportedly going to remaster his catalog with bonus tracks. The Ultimate Hits release was the start of the project.

Dude...Now that is some awesome information. I held off on buying any of his catalog only buying a greatesthl hits cd.
Hopefully will get this box out soon. Love Steve's late 1960's early 70's albums. Incredible material. Thanks for the kind word.

I am not sure the are going to release a box set. I think they are going to release the individual albums remastered with bonus material. I doubt they will release all of the albums at once. Most likely just a few at a time.
