Thanks, Matt. I stand corrected. I have their Bottom's Up SACD and it's one of the few Blue Note albums in the series that I hadn't heard before.

  2. I had ordered this title in August this year and already received it. When I ordered it, the description stated Analogue Productions and I think also DSD SACD.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004C6QELW/ref=ox_ya_os_product

Now the description seems different, but this is what is linked in my original order at Amazon.com

Yes, Roland, Amazon UK have it listed as an APO Hybrid SACD with a release date of 12 July 2011.

Thanks. I wonder if it is safe to assume this is the Analogue Productions SACD?

Mike, I'm sorry if I was wrong.

I can confirm that the Amazon link above (as of this writing) is the Analogue Productions SACD.
The desciption is wrong, that why I overlooked it. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks to Roland and Mike.

Anyone with a review of Jordan/Gilmore, Blowing in From Chicago? Over at sacd.net, it's noted that the SACD is made from a mono master. Does this mean there's less depth/sense of a soundstage? Any other observations on SQ?

With small group jazz recordings of the 1950s or 60s, there is no such thing as soundstage.

Instruments are usually close-miked and mixed left, center or right, independently of where they were actually placed in the recording studio.

You could say similar things about multitrack rock recordings where each track was laid down in a separate recording booth, but there's still a soundstage. The instruments still image in specific places with varying depth.

Maybe I missed it, but was there ever a confirmation that this distortion exists on all the SACD versions ? If it does indeed exist, is the SACD still worth getting over the RVG? Additional reviews would be most welcome.

    Thanks all...

Has Ike Quebec's Bossa Nova Soul Samba SACD sold out? I was about to buy a copy but the Hybrid SACD isn't even listed on Amazon or Amazon UK. Strange...

Amazon is not the most reliable resource for AP SACDs.

It's best to check the label shop first (Acoustic Sounds) to see if it's sold out

There are Marketplace sellers on other Amazon sites who offer this disc:

Thank you, Claude. I usually order from a couple of reliable Amazon UK Marketplace sellers whom I trust. I'll check out some of the Marketplace sellers at the sa-cd.net link that you've provided.

That's a real nice start -why not get to know these before moving on? Learn if there are players you particularly favor/disfavor.

Good advice. Figure out what you like before shelling out $25 apiece for more.

The only one of this series I have been disappointed with in terms of sound is the Paul Chambers disc, and not so wild about the Gilmore/Jordan.

I'd say of those 'less mentioned' titles here, Ike Quebec "Blue & Sentimental" and Horace Silver "Blowin The Blues Away" are also in the top tier.

Im listening to Blue Train and it's amazing. Detailed yet very smooth sounding. Dynamic and I did have to turn the volume up a little bit more than than expected. Extremely happy with this purchase....Couple of thoughts/questions for the experts..

    1. The booklet of my SACD does not have the "STEREO" in the lower right corner. Hmm I see advertisements for this SACD has having that.
    2. The two alternate takes at the end, they are little bit louder and sound MONO. They sound great too but I didnt see the "mono" indicated on the back label.

    Thanks for your input.
    Kind Regards
    Theron

Yes, La Roca is the main draw of that album for me and he always makes it sound fresh.
