I was going to make a small adendum in the Poco thread, but I thought I'd tell you here that A+B Sound is having one of their regular long weekend sales this Labour Day weekend, through to Monday evening. I just checked and part of the sale applies on-line at their Web site. We're talking rock bottom prices on a couple of the great titles that Steve mastered for MCA. I know folks have been asking about Who's Next recently.

    Who - Who's Next CD - $3.86 U.S. / $5.79 Canadian :)
Who - Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy CD - $2.99/$4.49 :)

Poco, Golden Earring, Buddy Holly, and Mamas and Papas don't look like they're on sale on the Web site, but I'm gonna check in store later on Friday to see if they are. They're still a decent price though. MCA Canada has always been fair with their mid-price and budget CD prices compared to the other majors.

Which Poco albums are you refering to here? I'd love to get a decent copy of "Legend".

That list is refering specifically to albums that Steve mastered to CD when he was with MCA.

    Poco - Legend
    Golden Earring - Moontan
Buddy Holly - From The Original Master Tapes
Mamas and Papas - 16 Of Their Greatest Hits

Somebody described a Poco Legend CD copy the other day in the "Canadian Pressings?" thread and Steve said it sounded like the one he mastered. I'm hoping that the version of Legend that A+B has is that version.

Say, has anyone compared Steve's Golden Earring Moontan to the 2001 Dutch remastered version on Red Bullet? and the recent MCA/Universal reamster? I haven't seen the new U.S. version anywhere, but I found a scan of the cover and disc on the Web. Universal is using the original art work and the disc has several bonus tracks.

And has anyone compared the Buddy Holly with say the 2 disc Buddy Holly Collection on MCA? I find the Collection disc louder and little harsher. Steve's disc is quiter and sound a lot smoother.

    Cheers.
