I have listened to it several times. Not one of my better sounding vinyl but I don't think it's awful.

It's definitely my worst sounding (other than bad condition records).

I was excited about this album because I thought Sting kind of stood for sound quality.

Brand New Day, which isn't my least compressed CD, has great sound.

I bought the LP, because the CD was so bad, but, the LP is exactly as bad.

Okay it's 6dBs lower, but, equally compressed "louder".

I love it as well. I never fall into that trap of comparing later albums to an artist's prime. I judge each on its own

If you are only excited by SQ you should probably look at the hundreds of supremely recorded but bland musicians inhabiting the audiophile labels and HiFi shows instead.

And you were wrong about Sting standing for sound quality. Despite all his pretentious endeavours in baroque, classical, musical, jazz etc., Sting is still a pop musician, albeit a very skilled, ambitious and sophisticated one. This and almost all of his previous albums aim at charts and sales and they just can't afford themselves to sound "shy" on radio.

That said, the HD version of his last album sounds pretty decent and inoffensive but what is more important - the music is pretty good.

He's recording yet another new album right now... lots of new photos of him in the studio on Facebook and Instagram. For those who care. If you don't, no need for rude replies!

I hope it doesn’t sound distorted and horrible. Can’t there be an artist champion of high quality audio?

"57th & 9th" was a rocking one. It's time to bring the flute out now.

If he keeps up the Police-like vibe of 57th, I'll be interested in this for sure.

That’s about how I felt about it too, but, the sound quality really burned me up. At least I would have been happy with so so songs with a great sounding album.

Still, I’m a sucker and will probably buy this one too.
