    I've heard the same thing but the opposite way (if that makes sense!). A 25 watt SS amp is pretty close to 25 watts - probably 27 watts or so. But a 25 watt tube amp is closer to 50 than 25 watts.

    Not sure how true that REALLY is though..... wonder if Steve would know?

    A 25w tube amp will be fine in a room size you described. I have used a 10w SET driven by an active preamp with my LS3/5As and produced good dynamics - not horn level - but good especially in a near-field setup. Bi-wiring is fine with the more recent BBC crossover that allows it. I try to avoid bi-amping to maintain as much coherence as possible.

    Thanks for the nice compliment - much appreciated. It is some great stuff I get to be exposed to on a daily basis but it really allows the music to come thru with incredible purity and speed.
