Stone Free on CD

Has a true stereo mix ever turned up on CD anywhere? How about the mono mix on an official CD?

Not to my knowledge. I still have Smash Hits (Reprise CD) and the newest AYE? and it's basically the same thing. I don't think the tapes exist for a stereo mix.

 

So all versions are fake stereo on CD? Why would they not use the mono mix?

FWIW, and I could be wrong, that's the only existing tape of Stone Free. The multi for that was wiped, or destroyed. However, check the velvet Hendrix boss, as I think a true stereo alternate of Stone Free might be there.

My box is vinyl, and I'm at work, but I'll check into it unless someone has the info on that handy...

There's a new stereo remix of Highway Chile (not a great one, IMO, pretty narrow) on there, but no new mix of Stone Free.

Maybe the multi is gone, or maybe they've just never bothered to do a remix...
