"Strawberry Fields Forever"/"Penny Lane" Single on April 22 (Record Store Day 2017)

They may have increased it to 10k but from the stores I spoke with, their orders were drastically cut.
I wonder where the extras went? Hmmmm...

 

this is my first RSD since moving from Toronto to Vancouver,
i couldn't get a copy at any of the 4 places I tried, they each
said they got 2 copies. A friend texted me got one in Hamilton
this afternoon no problem.

 

It was $7.99 at my local store.
What were they thinking with the goofy design on the pic sleeve cut, btw? Has ANY single ever looked like that? I think it's Fugly!

 

I snagged the last copy from the first store I visited this morning. So happy to have it.

Would one of the fortunate ones please post a photo of the actual 45? It always makes me feel better if I can at least "see" the record in question, as I kind of know what it sounds like. Thanks in advance!

Are you talking anout the thumb tabs on top? I believe that was like thay on the original.
If your talking about the picture itself I disagree completely! One of my favorite pic sleeves . I bought 2 copies so I can frame one sleeve and hang on my wall (even though it comes ready framed heh)
But I was surprised at how blurry looking the photo itself is. I never owned an original copy myself to compare, so I don't know if it was always like that , buy I thought the new copy would be a little more clear...or maybe I've just been spoiled by the remastered SFF/PL videos on 1+

Well, right you are! I guess I've never seen a U.K. original sleeve before.
I agree that it's a great sleeve - love the pic!

 

My local had about 5 copies. Like many, I've only listened once, so to truly appreciate the new 'P.L.' mix, I'll have to swim around with it for a awhile. Drums are definitely more present.
One thought struck me while listening, is the 'magic mud' that holds the original together and I hope it hasn't been scrubbed too clean and precise with this mix. Quite fun, though!

Well, while I appreciate your link, what I meant was that I wanted to see the "actual" record, not the picture sleeve, which I'm very familiar with, but thanks all the same.

 

Waiting for my copy via eBay... not able to get out today.
I have both original US pic sleeves : East Coast and West Coast w/ thump tab.
I don't think the original U.K. ps had what the new ones do at top. Pretty sure not.
Wish I could hear the new mix, that said.. I am not fond of the new pictures I've seen.
Really curious what labels will look like.

Just ordered the PL/SFF-single...an advantage of being an early bird and refusing to go on bidding above 30-40$ on ebay for this. The first chance of listening to listen to the new mix of Penny Lane with my own ears on my own system in a few days!
