Saw those shots before, and commented before, on another thread: Too many mics, amps the wrong kind, dreadful sound, etc. So many things wrong with their setup there!

Which photos is this referring to?

BTW, interesting that CBS in New York seemed to be all Neumann (M49s and U67s), while CBS Hollywood seemed to be all AKG (looks like C12s). Makes it helpful in identifying photos.

....and the AKGs have those groovy additional windscreens, as well, which you don't see very often.

Whoever was recording Classical stuff for Epic and Masterworks (I assume it was farmed out from CBS NYC) in Cleveland and Philadelphia (Szell, Ormandy, Stokowski) used AKG C12s routinely.

I wonder if there was some sort of dedicated remote setup (truck?) with those mics. Offhand I can't recall any photos from the New York studios with C12s.

From Glenn's post #16 ... just noticed Jimmy's Les Paul perched atop the stool in a rather haphazard manner. :yikes:

And they've got that banjo there so they can smash it onto the keyboards if the electrics need adjusting.

Those old studios looks like a rather boring and uninspirational place to create music, compared to some of todays studios:

Abbey Road, Studio 2 control room. Not sure on exact dates, other than there seems to be a time gap between the photos, both based on Parsons' appearance and the differences in gear around the desk.
