There is a really good 2 disc edition on Region 2 with a load of bonus material and both the theatrical release and the director's cut. Someone could just put a region 1 of that out... not that the film isn't Criterion worthy, it is.
Fritz the Cat has been weirdly out of print for several years and never been on blu-ray. Ralph Bakshi doesn't do that many interviews so he must know stuff he's never told.
Philip Kaufman's "White Dawn" Richard Rush's 'Freebie and the Bean' Howard Hawks "A Song is Born" Dick Richards "Farewell My Lovely" Martin Ritt's "Conrack" Robert Aldrich's "Vera Cruz" Tsui Hark's "Time and Tide" Most of all - Nicholas' Roeg's "Eureka"
Now that Shout Factory has lost their license... Bruce Lee's THE BIG BOSS FIST OF FURY WAY OF THE DRAGON and while they're at it maybe license from Warner Bros ENTER THE DRAGON
Another BIG VOTE for Lost Highway!!!! Also (and I really did try to think what would make good Criterion titles. Not just movies I like...): Elephant Man The Incredible Shrinking Man Vanishing Point (Mate!) The Black Cat (Karloff/Lugosi version) Track of the Cat Peeping Tom (Remastered for Blu) Age of Consent Sonatine Journey into Fear (Please!) Faster Pussycat Kill Kill Broadway Danny Rose (or Zelig or BOTH!) Clash by Night Day of the Outlaw Park Row Tears of the Black Tiger A Nikkatsu Seijun Suzuki box A Nikkatsu Shishido Joe box A remastered collection of Roger Corman's Edgar Allen Poe films
I got that set as a region 1 ten years ago. Maybe the dvd was riding the wave of Wicker Man mania It was interesting to see the original movie band name "Lodestone" ignored in favor of "Magnet" due to copyright issues.
You do know that Arrow has already released one box of Suzuki's early Nikkatsu films, and has a second box due out in two weeks, right? Arrow's releases have easily equaled, if not surpassed, Criterion's when it comes to quality and special features. https://www.amazon.com/Seijun-Suzuki-Years-Limited-Blu-ray/dp/B074ZX95CM https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079BF87DS
A couple from John Duigan, featuring Noah Taylor as Danny Embling. It was supposed to be a trilogy, but the third has never happened: The Year My Voice Broke Flirting Barfly The Station Agent And another vote for The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, And Her Lover.
Horror of Dracula but my guess is that Warner won't license it even though they STILL haven't released it.
