Although I'm late in responding I will. I too experienced the original multiverse (I began reading comics in August 1975) and I didn't find it confusing. Although there were similarities, Earth-One and Earth-Two were distinctive and both had plenty of potential for stories. The series All-Star Squadron showed that there was still a number of stories to be told on Earth-Two. Considering what we have now, the original DC Multiverse was simple.

DC's main problem now is that they have layered each multiverse on top of the previous multiverses, and in The Kingdom they established that everything ever published by anyone anywhere is part of DC continuity. To me, things are so confusing that the only way to fix everything is to completely wipe everything out (keeping absolutely nothing) and then starting over from scratch.

Didn't say it was confusing, I said it was a bore, big difference! DC took a cool idea (Earth 2. Btw, if E2 featured the heroes of yesteryear, basically the ones who came 1st, shouldn't IT be considered Earth 1!?) that essentially 'fixed' any lingering questions about their legacy characters in a somehow logical way and ruined it. As usual, DC's always about excess and overdoing things so Earth 2 was followed by Earth 3, or was it X? Anyways, they've been multiplying for decades. What was a neat little pocket solution has become a deux ex machina used to explain anything the hack writers are too lazy to figure out for themselves.

Is Cavill still going to play Superman, or does James Bond beckon ?

Could be. Henry Cavill was a leading contender for Casino Royale - apparently he made quite an impression on director Martin Campbell - but the feeling at the time was he was too young. With Craig on his way out and Cavill possibly hanging up the cape, he stands a very good chance of being the next James Bond...

...and his chances seem pretty good. Cavill's an actor audiences are at least familiar with and would want to see as James Bond - certainly more than Tom Hiddleston or Richard Madden...to name just two contenders. Going forward, I can't see the series making another left-field casting choice like Daniel Craig. Cavill could be a slam dunk - and he's been solid in Bond-esque movies like The Man From UNCLE and Mission Impossible: Fallout.

...There's been all this talk/speculation/scuttlebutt lately abou the next James Bond being black (FTM, maybe this is mentioned somewhere further above, but Michael J. Jordan was balloon-float discussed for the next Kal-El;).).........

Can’t see anyone looking as right for the part than him. The only thing not going for him is his Superman association. If he doesn’t get the OO7 part, and also gets kicked out of his Superman gig...maybe he could move over to MCU.

That makes me think if the "
Hypertime " concept they had in the Nick eties! I liked it : since it sorts .rought back the DC Multiverse!:)
I LIKE DC's umpteen universes - and would just as soon have MORE!:cool: Like, how about wearing that the Superman stories of 1938-41 or so were not of the " Earth-2 Superman " if the JLA:JSA teamuos : but an earlier still Superman whom I will call " Captain Cleveland "?:yikes:
The far less super, " faster than a speeding train/couldhrug off anything short of a direct hit from an Army shell ", less of a " Big Blue Boy Scout " when dealing with authority, at least initially willing to kill when nessecary, ****-st*rr*ng social reformer, Muscular New Dealer Kal!:shh::p The 1941 story that involves a Lori Lemaris prototype cod be one of the last Captain Cleveland stories - and the later Luthor-Powerstone story was one of the first about the Earth-2 Superman!:shh::unhunh:

Given his appearances in so many Marvel movies, Hiddleston is pretty well-known to audiences - don't see Cavill as notably more famous.

Hiddleston also starred in the 2017 Kong movie...

The problem with the DC Mulitverse isn't its existence...its that they let it get out of control and become confusing. I think that it is such a valuable tool that DC keeps bringing it back.

My point wasn't about who's more well known, only that I believe audiences would rather see Cavill as Bond before Hiddleston. I know I would.

Hiddleston is too weasely to play Bond. Heck and a pop star dumped him.

    Because...?

Not saying there's some groundswell of support for Hiddleston as Bond, but I also don't think there's some clear demand for Cavill in the role either...

Cavill is 35, and not married. Ideally suited to play 007.

And other than a bar fight in the beginning didn't do much more than look 'concerned'. Unsure why he took such a poorly written role...

Unsure about Cavill's actual thespian ability, but I throught he had a strong and bemused presence in MI6 and Man from UNC. Superman was poorly conceived, and he was written to be sort of clueless, so I think he's better than he's been allowed to show. I also have a theory that if you can wear a superhero costume and not look idiotic you can also convincingly portray Othello. But that's just a theory

Tom Hiddleston was in The Night Manager, a very Bond-esque mini series. Is this where all of the Tom Hiddleston as Bond suggestions are coming from?

What does being unmarried have to do with his ability to play a role?

Sean Connery was married the entire time he played Bond - should he not have been hired?

Might've been more to the role in the script than what ended up on the screen.

He also might've thought it looked like a good "star-making" opportunity.

    Oh, and $$$!

I thought Tom Hiddleston was convincing in both The Night Manager and Kong: Skull Island but I'm still not sold on him as a possible 007. As for how he figured into the conversation for the next James Bond, I think that started with The Night Manager (just as Richard Madden landed on the radar after his performance in Bodyguard). Daniel Craig hadn't yet committed to doing Bond 25 (and made those somewhat infamous public statements about "slashing his wrists" while doing press for SPECTRE) and the rumor mill was off and running over who'd be next - Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Damien Lewis...

Post-Brosnan, I thought Clive Owen was going to get the call - so the oddsmakers won't be looking to me for any inside information (haha). I do believe the choice of the next James Bond will be dictated by whatever direction the producers decide the post-Craig films should be headed in. Henry Cavill seems like a good fit for a more escapist James Bond - if EON wants a good looking guy in a tuxedo saving the world again, he'd be a good choice.

That's then, though. Right here, right now we still have Bond 25 with Daniel Craig to look forward to, though. My hope is they send him off with a good one.
