Supertramp was a month into their recording career, having just released their self-titled debut, when they appeared as the first group to perform on the second day of the Isle Of Wight 1970 festival. This would have been one of the only occasions the band performed with their original lineup, that included Richard Palmer and Robert Millar as well as Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies. Does anyone know how this went? Was it a successful performance? Was it recorded? What songs did they perform? How did it go over? Did they have the same sound issues that bedeviled Kris Kristofferson on Day 1? Was flautist Dave Winthrop on hand? Did the band perform with this lineup at any other time before Palmer left (eventually joining King Crimson as their lyricist)? I know there are Tramp fans on the forum, and Isle of Wight experts and possibly even witnesses, who might be able to feed my curiosity.
