So setting up and keeping a turntable rig playing correctly is easier than setting up and keeping a surround system playing correctly? Grabbing my remote to tweak channel levels takes less than 20-30 seconds if that. I rarely find the need to tweak channel levels as I'd rather go with the mix as is. There is no need to clean a surround sound digital disc ;).

    As you recently posted.....
So lets be honest here ;).

It's what audio enthusiasts do. They invest time into what they enjoy. I listen to a lot of surround music and I never regretted a minute I spent setting up my system. I also put a lot of effort into getting the best out of my stereo listening. Isn't this forum a place for people like us?

I have an analog preamp and three different listening positions I use depending on what I am doing when listening to music. Also, my system is in a different room than my listening room!

There are THREE KNOBS I have to adjust. Balance for the fronts, and rear volumes for left and right speakers. Now that I know what position each knob is set for each listening position, it is very simple! From my perspective, your posts are silly.

Completely breaking down and setting up a system is work, no doubt, but simply tweaking is part of the fun! The results speak for themselves. The new multichannel mix of the self titled Roxy Music album alone makes it worth ALL the effort! I seriously can't put into words how great that mix is.

In my younger days I would rip out all my car seats and take appart the dashboard to get better sound in my car. Setting up a multichannel system in my house is simple in comparison, not even close.

I never knew the music streaming services had surround sound. I might have to give it a try...

More than one listening position on a multichannel rig goes WAY over the head of the self proclaimed "The King Of Stereo Mixing"... not surprising in the least!

I'd say ignore that "guy" as it seems he has issues posting correctly so sound reproduction might be a bit harder to grasp ;).

LOL! If you can't properly quote a post, stay away from "complicated" music systems! It is all finally making sense...

The system in Yamaha receivers to adjust surround levels and timing is completely painless. Position the microphone in your primary listening position, press start, and it plays a series of pink noise bursts and clicks. When done, it shows you the time delays for each channel, the level adjustments and if any speakers are out of phase. The end result is the whole system nicely adjusted. I've been an audio engineer since I was a teen, and it does a more accurate job than I can with a meter.

I'll admit I didn't read the article from the first post. Not interested in reading about the demise of the many digital disc formats I listen to on a daily basis. Unless they all self destruct at the stroke of midnight on a specific date I could care less. I have many outstanding surround music titles in my collection and hope to enjoy them for many years to come. RIP to all the RIP threads :D!
