Saw her recently in Tokyo at the very nice Billboard-Live venue (similar to the Blue Note). They love her in Japan, where she is the 80's epitome of the cherished "kawaii" (cute) singer.

 

It's a crying shame that too many people only view Susanna as the 80's pop sex kitten who refuses to age, despite the amazing records that she made solo or with Matthew Sweet (I view the 3 volumes of Under the Covers as arguably the finest covers project of all time - and yes, I own Pin Ups!). Nobody sings Velvet Underground like she does. And while not on youtube, please check out her version of Richard and Linda Thompson classic Walking on a wire - her voice makes the hairs on your arms stand up! And dare I say nobody wrote a song on Lennon's murder more intimate and heartfelt as she did with Weak with Love

Wow, I never would have guessed she was that old (although if I take the time to do the math it kind of makes sense). Yeah....she would never give me the time of day.

My favorite of her solo albums. BTW, 2 great covers that aren't listed on the CD but are hidden tracks at the end of the album are her covers of 'To Sir With Love' and 'Stuck In The Middle With You'.

Still could kick my self for not being able to see The Bangles in my hometown at the Boulton Center. I think the theater holds around 200 - 250 seats.
