Saw her do that eye-thing at a Bangles show at a little club in Ft Worth in the early 00's, and I about fell to the floor. Such a strange movement to be so sexy, but danged if it doesn't work.

    Sexy Susie is Sexy.

Probably my favorite music video that she's in -- though "In Your Room" is also a great one.

I became a fan of the Bangles when "All Over The Place" came out. I got into them along with REM and the jangly new American indie rock of the early 80s. Nobody else I knew had ever heard of them. A few years later, they were due to play my college (this is late 85/early 86 I guess). In the early evening, I saw them sitting together in the student canteen eating their dinner before the show. I was too shy to talk to them - but moments later my drunk-as-only-teens-can-be companions threw chips (fries) at them (sneakily, over their shoulders). I died of embarassment. The oafs! I've always wanted to apologize to Susanna for their loutish behavior - does anyone have her number?

This thread made me remember the movie "The Allnighter" from 1987. Probably the worst movie I've ever seen, except for the starring actress… still hoping someday it will be rebroadcasted on TV.

Well, it has Sheriff Truman from Twin Peaks as her love interest so being a Bangles/Twin Peaks fan I bought it anyway!

I'm yet to see her 1978 movie Stoney Island out on DVD now.

She's probably my favorite female artist, period.

And Pam Grier, according to IMDB. ;)

Don't get me wrong, I have pleasant memories from that movie. Remembering it after having seen it only once in 1989 must indicate something.

And next to being a very beautiful woman, she also made some wonderful music. I only knew about the Bangles hits from the 80's (Going down to Liverpool, Manic Monday, Eternal Flame, Walk like an Egyptian, Hazy shade of winter), but after reading this thread I will check her more recent solo work too.

I saw the Bangles in 1983, she was cute then, she looks even better now. How is that possible?

I saw her perform last year at this Big Star tribute/fundraiser thing here in LA. She was really great and still totally has it in every way.

Brudy, did you catch her show at Largo last Thursday? She did a full band show in the main room and a laid back set in the bar afterwards. She has another one scheduled for Feb 25.

Here are the songs performed in each to the best of my memory, not in actual sequence though. Except for "Raining" from her last solo album and a few Bangles songs, it was mostly covers from her favorite artists.

    I've Seen All Good People
    Take Me With U
    It Doesn't Matter Any More
    These Days
Who Knows Where The Time Goes
The Only Living Boy in New York
I'm In Love With A Girl
    I'll Keep It With Mine
    Raining
    Walk Like An Egyptian
    Get Back In Line
    Ramble On
    Eternal Flame

    Different Drum
    Long, Long Time
    96 Tears
    Champagne Supernova
    Willin'
    To Love Somebody
    New York Mining Disaster 1941
    Here Comes The Sun
    Catch the Wind
You Didn't Have To Be So Nice
    You Won't See Me
    Femme Fatale
She May Call You Up Tonight
    To Sir, With Love
    This Will Be Our Year
    Roll Over Beethoven

I recently purchased the 4 disc box for the "Covers" albums she did with Matthew Sweet.

This got me looking for other material she did.

She's done a fair amount of songs for movies - probably because its easy work - and she has family in the biz...

I recently purchased the CD you are referring to - with the two covers at the end of the disc. I was surprised they aren't listed or mentioned (as you said).

This morning, I noticed that "Stuck In The Middle With You" was used a song in 1997 for a comedy called "Bean"

    http://www.discogs.com/Various-Bean-The-Album/master/95425

That song actually seems to make a lot of sense in a film built around an awkward character who constantly finds himself
    in trouble...

It seems like the song was first released in 1996 as the hidden bonus track, but I suspect it was recorded for the film - which
was probably in production in 1996 (the soundtrack lists as 1997).

This begs the following question... was Hoffs' version of "To Sir - With Love" used in a film in the mid-90s ?

I seem to recall Chris Elliot using the song around that time - but I can't remember if it was a cover or the original.

Look for her cover of "You Were On My Mind' if you haven't got it already. She cut a solo record before her second lp that was never released, but some of it was used in that second lp. the shame was that they didn't use her version of Sunshine. It is almost heavy metal, it is so loud and raucous. She even sings "no future" at the end to let you know she listens to punk music, not just old records.
