Going tonight, Durham Performing Arts Center. I am VERY excited about this show!

We just saw Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives 2 weeks ago in a 300 seat auditorium in Mt. Airy, NC -- what an amazingly talented band!

They really are, aren’t they? The musicianship, the versatility, the vocals - and Marty’s voice and guitar! Did they do much from Way Out West?

You will just love the show tonite! One of the numerous high points for me is their high-desert big-guitar Western arrangement of Satisfied Mind.

Yes, they did 3 or 4 songs from the newest album. This was an acoustic show, Harry played only a snare drum. Excellent all around.

I'll add in a little anecdote about seeing Marty and his band about two years ago for an electric set here in Durham. My wife, a good buddy and his wife and I had front row center seats. My friend was wearing a "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" t-shirt which Marty commented on before they had played a note.

Marty was playing Clarence's b-bender telecaster and told the story about it. At the end of the show, he went to my friend (with the t-shirt) and handed him a guitar pick. He then walked over to me, bent down and started to hand Clarence's guitar to me. I reached out to touch it and he jerked it back and said "psych!". It was pretty funny.

I will repeat what many others who have attended one of these shows have said already --- GO if you can! This is fabulous, once in a lifetime stuff. The level of musicianship is unsurpassed.

My wife and I, and 6 friends who were there as well, all walked out elated. This sounds silly, but the whole show was joyous, celebratory, edifying, feel-good (I'm looking for the thesaurus now....).

Don't think twice if you have a chance--go to this show.

I was held up a bit from securing tickets, but got the green light
with 2 tickets secured as of this morning. It is near sell out now,
and I was getting nervous w/ the last of the 60 or 70 seats starting
to go quickly. Near center towards the back, the last show of the
tour. The venue is more than gorgeous, the location being
south Florida, some of the seeding ground for this americana
music, and McGuinn's home. It could be a curtain call for
Hillman and Roger playing together again, though I doubt it.
I've recently been listening to some of Hillman's recent recordings
as well... The Other Side today.

Anyways, I'm stoked. The last time I saw McGuinn was back
in the 90's, a rocking set. Marty S breaking out the E-bender
will be huge. I will try to explain this all to my son; he gets a
light history lesson the night before. lol

    Spinning these right now...

FYI I have two tickets for the State Theatre show tomorrow in NJ. They're amazing aisle seats in the 3rd row center orchestra. If anyone is interested let me know as soon as possible. I just want my money back, not charging a penny over face value. Sorry if this is off topic, but people are more likely to see it here. I'll have to list them on StubHub otherwise.

At least one more date has been added, but I don't think it has officially been announced yet. So there could be others.

Just got home from the New Brunswick NJ show. Can't really add to what's already been said. One of the better concerts I've seen this year.

Unfortunately, poorly sold. Supposedly only 650 tickets. The floor looked pretty full up front.

Great choice and very appropriate! Tom Petty co-wrote and performed w Roger for his “Back To Rio” album (1991) and for Roger it was a real return-to-form, and sort of contemporary companion to Love That Never Dies, one of the McGuinn-Crosby-Hillman reunion tracks.

Really? I looked like only the last couple of rows on the floor were empty. I didn't check out the balcony though.

Agree with MarcS. Orchestra capacity is 1,088, with another 872 upstairs, so the attendance had to be at least a thousand. But however many there were, this had to be the most geezer crowd I've ever seen at a show — I'm in my early 60s and I felt like a youngster!

I do tend to avoid album-themed shows, but I just had to see this one. A few quibbles, but overall a solid 8/10 for me. Very happy that I went!

I went with a friend who has State Theater membership, so was in the membership area before the show. One of the people who worked there said the 650 number.

Perhaps it was advanced sale and there was a bit more day of show.

Funny, I've noticed this phenomenon too. When I go to concerts these days, I always wonder "What are all these old people doing here?"

    Oops…
