I just read about it in a post by ultimateclassicrock.com covering Yes' recent cruise concerts on Facebook. Steve Howe mentioned it in a fans' Q and A. Alright ... about time.

It has been known for a long time that "Tales" will be the next Yes remix project by Steven Wilson and some weeks ago I read somewhere that the mix has already been finished some time ago.
But admittedly this is the first confirmation by an "official" source.

I actually think this has "critical reappraisal" written all over it, but my experience with Yes is very atypical: basically I don't even seem to listen to a Yes album properly until it comes with the SW Seal of Quality.

I don't see a critical reappraisal in the cards for Tales. It is what it is, a fan favorite that is largely inaccessible to more casual listeners. I remain pretty ambivalent about the project, though when I'm in the right mood, it can be enjoyable. We'll see if Wilson's fairy dust is enough to draw me in more convincingly.

I wonder if I'll finally get something out of this album. It typically puts me to sleep. Was hoping he'd just go to "Drama" next, but everyone of these Yes/Wilson releases has been great, so I'll probably get this too.

I always thought the Rhino remaster was really good, though I heard the Steven Wilson The Yes Album and it was really great.

My favourite Yes album. If SW can improve the sound as much as he did Relayer I shall be one happy boy.

Yes, it sounds really nice for me. Not something that can be said about the rest of the batch.

Cool! Glad I held off on the Rhino though I was sorely tempted. I was afraid this one would get ignored by Wilson. I think it deserves the attention - a 5.1 mix should reveal some surprising things.

This is an album I never liked outside side 1 but I will, of course, give the SW version a chance. Who knows? Maybe I'll see something I didn't over the last 42 years:p

Yes, Wilson manages to bring out new details while still staying true to the spirit of the original mix. Also, as a general rule, Wilson's remixes haven't been harshly mastered like the Genesis ones were. He prefers a flat remastering approach.
