You mean like the usual sunny optimistic feel good time musicals he usually writes?

:agree: Yeah! I'm having a hard time imagining anything he could do with this subject matter that would qualify as entertainment.

I'm sure the character of Manson intrigues him because Manson runs at the mouth like a lunatic and that is probably attractive to QT as a chance for some killer monologues. I'm sure it will be one of his pseudo-comedies like Django or The Hateful Eight.

Maybe QT should play Manson..... ;) If QT can make Manson funny, it would be a real accomplishment.... along the lines of Kubrick making nuclear combat funny. It's possible but I'm not so sure this egg can hatch. The very thought of this project doesn't crank my tractor!

Tarantino has to be one of the worst "actors" in the history of film. Outside of a few things, absolutely cringeworthy performances.

Yeah. As much as I like his writing, I agree. In fact... I don't like his face.

Is that an awful thing to say?

But then you'll have the inevitable "not as good as Kill Bill Vol. 1 or Kill Bill Vol. 2" posts. There's no winning. Like with Star Wars, after the Return of the Jedi was released in 1983 and the original trilogy wrapped up, no Star Wars film released since will inevitably be looked at as a lesser Star Wars film compared to the original trilogy.

I wonder if there will be culturally daring but totally unneeded overuses of the "N" word?

..... you know, in a cool 60s way

Stupid question, have any of his past films been based on real life events?

    Why not?
Fascinating ( though morbid ) true story.

Still prefer a Kill Bill 3. :agree:

Yeah I read Helter Skelter twice, but something about it feels wrong to me. The story is gruesome enough without adding all of his splatter.

After some thought I agree with this.
Manson and a couple of his girls still alive don't need to be glorified.
His victims probably still have living relatives, they don't need this.
I enjoy QT films but I would rather he tackle a different project.

This is exactly what I mean by "wrong to me." His films are great for cartoonish escapism, but with real life people involved you can't really escape it.

I think he should leave it alone.

I very much liked Emma Cline's book The Girls. Tarantino tackling this subject is a different matter.
