This will be a purchase, not a Netflix rental!

    I hope it's a budget release, as it's constantly in re-run.

These will be "must buys". They can still make me laugh out loud, esp Latka and any "Jim" episode. Jim gets his license, Jim dates Elaine, Jim with his father, etc etc, and of course, the classic Latka becomes Vic episode! Too funny.

Another classic is Latka becomes Alex (having more fun as Alex than the real Alex).
    Bring these DVD's on!

With all due apologies to Randall Carver, the series didn't *really* hit its stride until the second season, when Christopher Lloyd joined the cast as Rev. Jim.

Still, there are a few early episodes worth watching. I'll definitely be picking this one up at some point.

I agree. Kind of like on the show "Barney Miller", when Steve Landesberg joined as Sgt. Dietrich in the middle of the second season.

My favorite episode was when Jim joined up -- the driving test ("slow down!") drags me to the floor every time I see it. Then there was the time Jim's dad died and and he left him a tape of Stevie Wonder to groove to. Oh, and the race horse he named Gary. The red-hot pool balls...

Yeah... Reverend Jim's one appearance during the first season is definitely the high point from that year.
