Makes me wonder how the person who published this article managed to find a pic of some strange and obscure old Technics turntable, and to present it as SL1200, when the real SL1200 pics are so easy to find everywhere.

Looks pretty funky. Wonder how it will stack up to the old 1200 and if they'll use the same high quality materials or if they'll go the cheaper way like most '1200 clones'?

Nice looking but would probably sound better with a tone arm.:p

I don't have the tooling to cut an arm board in that!

Naw, that would just ruin its perfection. Same as the Garrard 301.

That is by far the best new modern looking table I've seen in quite a long time. There is one guy that likes to talk about how his tables are sexy , hot, etc. YO - take a look at this puppy! Yea, and btw there is no such thing as sexy hot turntables. More like a better way to describe them as "nouveau chic". It's still the peak of geekdom in most circles.

I don't think the cost will be anywhere around $5k. Grand to 1500 would be my guess. Panasonic is not going to gouge customers like another company that goes from a 1/4" aluminum top plinth plate to 1/2" on one of their models and talks about the sonic wonders. Geez.

That'll depend on which line the table gets placed in:

Could be $1500 in the "affordable" range. My guess is Panasonic is not immune to marketing babble. Gouging is in the eye of the plucked. :)
