There is no official confirmation yet. Maybe the reports aren't true.

    Oh man! This is terrible!

I feel like playing her albums now.

R.I.P. vanilla child! (I meant that in a complementary way.)

That's sad news. I've never explored her catalog, but "Lovergirl" is one of my favorite 80s R&B songs.

Terrible News. Lady T was responsible for some of the greatest R & B music in the world from I Need Your Lovin' to Square Biz to Portuguese Love to Behind The Groove....what a shock. I was playing Portuguese Love just this week.....I always wanted to interview her just because of her truly underrated nature and her undeniable talent, now I really wish that I had.....

I was a Long Island kid who was surrounded by corporate rock types BUT I loved T's music. She really stood out on the radio. And her bassist Alan McGrier who co-wrote Square Biz was a great bass hero to me as well.

    Her best musical joint:

Awful news. Age 54 is far too young.

  18. Oh no. :-(

When I was a little girl a cousin's wife would blast Teena Marie songs on her car stereo while driving me around with her from place to place. Some of my first good music memories. She got me hooked on Teena.
Gosh, so sad. Thank you for the music, Lady Tee.

I always heard it as "vanilla child". but, it's cool.

Is that the same age as John Ritter when he passed? :(

Oh, this is awful. She was so young!

So many memories and great songs, like Square Biz.

    Portugese Love was truly epic.

    She will be greatly missed.

She was just 54. Has it been said if she had been ill or had any preexisting condition(s)?
