Texas - 30th Anniversary of Southside

Passed on the last one as the first few tracks I heard didn't do it for me, but always interested in hearing new stuff from Texas.
No details at the link offer than the fact it's coming (main focus is on a tour, presumably currently on hold)

  2. I liked The Conversation, but I only gave Jump On Board 1 listen and wasn't very impressed. Southside on the other hand is my favourite Texas album apart from Rick's Road, so if the corona crisis will be over in December I may get tickets for their Amsterdam show.

Does this mean we get Sharleen lying on the floor to sing the vocals?

New single. Samples Donna Summer’s Love’s Unkind.
    Upbeat, think Summer Son maybe..

The real music video for Mr. Haze...

I was disappointed that the Donna Summer sample is so blatant. It was not as clever as when they referenced "Rock Your Baby", the George McCrae classic on 'Let's Work It Out" from "Jump On Board." However, the more I listen to the song the more catchy it becomes... There are a couple of subliminal shots of Donna Summer in the video. I am really looking forward to the album.

Dipped in and out a bit earlier. First listen disappointing. One initial jump out were some very lame lyric / rhymes in places. Beyond the first two singles I didn't hear a lot of potential favourites. Pity. I enjoy a lot of their stuff.

    Love Mr Haze.

But then again, Love’s Unkind is great so anything that reminds me of that will probably go down well.:)

It is good. Funny though, I haven't gone for this album..the few other bits I heard didn't grab me. They're becoming a singles band for me in the post singles era.

I haven’t heard anything other than the singles. I’ll have to give it a spin on Spotify.

Yikes I love this and I didn’t even know there was a DS sample. Still haven’t caught it. What a great song!

The Donna Summer sample is from the song "Love's Unkind" from 1977. See the link below:
