A bit of a longer answer: for one, although I have used song shuffle, too, ever since it was first a practical option (with the arrival of changers), whenever I play an album I always play the whole album--I never skip tracks. I've always played through every album I own by an artist before I play one again (and more often than not I have complete discographies). And I've always cycled through artists in some sort of order, too.

I don't play through every artist an equal amount --I've always had rotation levels of some sort, but my highest rotation has always had a large number of artists.

In a nutshell, I've always listened to music systematically in a way guaranteed to maximize variety while still slightly biasing a large pool of favorite artists, so there's no way for me to answer. As another person said above, I organize my music listening more like it's a "chore," and I've always done that, but because I enjoy the results of it.

I listened to it today and realized it's been years since. My OG copy is worn and needs replaced, has a skip right at the beginning. This is one of those albums I "over listened" to and burnt out on so the recent More Blood,More Tracks isn't something I'm chomping at the bit to git. I'll pick it up in due time but first I need an upgrade of the OG. I know there's threads and opinions a plenty already but I'm open right now to receive due to this mornings discovery of my poor old OG.

Edit in...the music sounds fresh to me this morning and I'm loving it :agree: Clangy, snappy acoustic guitar sounds real to me. Think I'll go snap and clang a bit on my own wood box.

I'd like to think it was one of those but it's probably some Belinda Carlisle album or some other shameful guilty pleasure.

Too bad discs don't have built-in counters. I'd be interested to know myself. During the late 60s and early 70s, it was undoubtedly the Beatles and their first solos records. But after that, as I moved on to other favorites, their records took over, depending on how obsessed I eventually became (Cooper, Sabbath, Zeppelin, etc.). I've eventually come full circle, with the Beatles back in front of the rotation, though I am not sure which album I've played most; maybe Abbey Road.

I don't really know but I guess it's probably one of the Beatles albums and probably "Sgt. Pepper's".
