It's not on the expanded Mott, unfortunately. Or The Hoople. (Is the Anthology the only place to find it on CD?) Mott The Hoople - Mott Mott The Hoople - The Hoople
Thank you. If I have already the CBS remasters of ATYD, Mott, and The Hoople, is there anything else unique to this disc (in terms of mixes/edits)?
He is a household name. I mean any household worth their weight in vinyl. Who doesn't know Ian Hunter?
On my 8-mile-before-breakfast walk I had a Twilight Zone “Oooooo....” moment halfway up Prince Of Wales Road. The i-pod threw up ‘Resurrection Mary’ just as I stepped onto Queen Mary’s Drive. Well, it made me smile...
I do eight miles before breakfast on both Saturday & Sunday. I need to. I teach, so don’t get much exercise through the week. It’s where I get most of my listening done. It’s a proper chore in winter though....
..............and speaking of Mr 'Unter; It's 41 years today since I saw the Overnight Angels at the (long gone) Doncaster Gaumont. He'd Earl Slick on guitar and the support was The Vibrators. Funnily enough, up to that point, I'd been a fan of theirs. Then I saw them live and, while not rubbish, the bubble was burst. Couldn't hack it live. All noise and no substance. The Overnight Angels, on the other hand, were stunning. It's the only time I ever saw them. I wish he'd kept that band together. A marvellous collection of songs.
Today I’ve been spinning a few of the ‘Stranded In Reality’ discs. Picked two of my Hunter-Ronson favourites; ‘Welcome To The Club’ and ‘You’re Never Alone…’. I expected to have a good time, but ended up feeling quite maudlin about Ronno not being around. We were robbed of his amazing talent. He was far too young to leave the party. Quite a sobering experience. (It’s probably my pre-60th birthday blues, looming incredibly large, just days away…..).
Wrote a quick post about Ian Hunter's latest interview: Ian Hunter talks to BBC Radio 1’s Johnnie Walker | Tim Anderson's IT Writing Tim
I have watched a few of the videos from Azkena a couple of days ago. Of course it is great to see Mott performing and Ian Hunter is amazing as usual. For me personally, I don't enjoy these performances as much as 2009 or 2013 reunions. I don't know if this is because it is really a combo of Rant Band and latter-day Mott, but possibly. I don't think it gels as well. Still, Sweet Jane was great. Next post, per Forum rules! Tim
