There's so much fuss over The Rutles right now I figured I would give America's favorite sweethearts some time in the spotlight...

If they were to release all sessions documented for 1969 (per Bellagio) we would have:

    January
    9 - session: Forever/San Miguel
13 - session: San Miguel (remake) [Sunset]
    22 - session: San Miguel [Valentine - 2 sessions]
24 - session: San Miguel [Sunset]
27 - session: San Miguel [Sunset]
29 - session: San Miguel [Capitol]

    February
13 - session: Got To Know The Woman [Sunset]
14 - session: Got To Know The Woman [Sunset]

That's a lot of sessions; a lot of individual songs, and a lot of outtakes. But then that also leaves us with the remaining Sunflower sessions tracked in 1970.
Do you suspect they would prefer to package it all in one "Sunflower Sessions" box?

If they do, will we have enough copyright extension leftover for 2020 to fill our heart's content?

I've been wondering the same thing myself. A clean remix of 'San Miguel' tops my wishlist. Every released version thus far is murky as all get out. There's a great song hiding in there

One of the bands most productive eras. Brian’s participation was certainly crucial, but the rest of the group made strong contributions.

The appearance of Til I Die this early in the sessions was surprising, as the song has always been portrayed as an outgrowth of his sadness and frustrations during the SURF’S UP period.

The SUNFLOWER/SURF’S UP era is my favorite for the group, and the copyright extension offers great promise for hardcore fans.

Would you hold it against me if I told you I think about this literally every day as December nears...

I'll have one of these: "'Til I Die (demo)" and one of these "Raspberries, Strawberries (= At My Window)" and whatever one of these are "What Can The Matter Be" and "Add Some Music session: Susie Cincinnati/Good Time/You Never Give Me Your Money

I guess there won’t be a physical release either way. Super disappointing.

Agreed, but at least the prospect of a vault dump exists, which will still be filled with audio riches.

It sounds better folded to mono - perhaps by design?

I got out my mint Artisan first press of SUNFLOWER this week, the one prepped by Steve Desper and Carl: a beautiful sounding record.

I just hope they keep these vault dumps going for another couple of years so we can get all of the 1972 live multi-tracks (presuming they don't release a CD/vinyl version).

I recall it was really late in the game. Like the announcement was a Tuesday and the dump was that Friday. Can’t recall the week though and there was no announcement ahead of time

Box set would imply something tangible, but perhaps he is referring to this year's download.

One thing is sure, if Al has said that, then something is definitely happening.
He may not always have specifics, but he is always on the money about this stuff.
He 'IS' still an official member, and he would have had to sign off on it.

Agreed. If it was a box set, a physical and tangible item, one would think it would have been already announced with a 4th quarter release date to coincide with copyright public domain concerns. The fact that there is nothing on the calendar or any sort of official, promotional announcement suggests another expansive vault dump planned for December.
