"Every Little Thing" should be what they call the 125 CD box set of all of their studio session material that I'm sure is coming out any day now. :)

It's a pun. The expression "past master" refers to someone very good at doing a particular thing, but it's often used slightly sardonically, e.g. saying that someone is a past master at avoiding responsibility.

Ergo the name "Singles" would apply.

But, okie dokie... since we have to be condescendingly anal about it, then the names would *have* to be...

"We wanted to give this collection some kind of neat moniker to differentiate it from other artists collections, but when we do that our fans get all butt-hurt. So, this is 11 singles that were A and B sides of singles, but were not on any albums, and a German-language single, and an EP and US-only track!"

    or

"We wanted to give this collection some kind of neat moniker to differentiate it from other artists collections, but when we do that our fans get all butt-hurt. So, this is 18 tracks that are not on any British Beatle albums (1062-1965)"

    and

"7 singles (both A and B sides) plus one song released on a charity album."

    or

"15 tracks that are not on any British Beatle album (1965-1970)"

Alternatively, they could just name them according to what they really are... "One Final Cash Grab Volume 1 & 2"

Why re-relesae these compilations with their tracks all in a random order like this (especially with the bonus tracks at the end)? I hate compilations that aren't in chronological order. There's really no need for these compilations.

Personally I'd call it 'Revolution', coz it's catchy, and is fitting for the amount of ground covered, and the change in their music over the 8 years or whatever it is.

Because it wouldn't be A Collection of Beatles Oldies or Hey Jude if the track lists were re-arranged. If you hate compilations that aren't in chronological order, then I guess you hate these two original compilations.

Right. We don't need those compilations- especially not since Past Masters was released in 1988.

    ...or they could call it:

"Singles - but not all of them - we left a bunch off, but we did include instead a few songs that weren't singles at all, like a song released on a UK charity album which was not released in the US during the band's lifetime except as a slowed down, overdubbed and remixed version (which was also released on a UK Beatles album), and one of two tracks recorded by special request of Capitol as filler for a US album when they ran short of orphan tracks from their other Capitol Frankenstein'd recompilations to create another one and didn't want to wait any longer to release more "product" onto "the market", that was later released on a UK Greatest Hits album - the other one being used as filler for the (half) soundtrack album to their second movie when three of the recorded tracks intended for inclusion on the album were rejected as not being good enough to include, despite the fact that one of those same three songs was deemed acceptable for release on their next album when they came up one song short at that album's deadline for completion, as well as a pair of cynical cash-in German language recordings made specifically for the German market...for some reason....not to mention one of those two German language tracks being released....again for some reason....on a US Capitol album, but not the other one - well that is until the US cash grab "Rarities" album inspired by the previous (and more intelligently compiled) cash-in UK "Rarities" album - which was originally only included in a very expensive "Complete Beatles LP" boxset collection but due to consumer complaints was later released individually, which pi$$ed off a lot of people who had previously bought the expensive boxset based solely on the fact that the Rarities album was meant to be exclusive to the box and felt ripped off that the record company lied to them"

I don't think the title is the problem. The (primary) problem is that it's a compilation put together with the sole intention of filling in gaps left by the core albums. It's not a hits collection and it's not a B-sides/oddities collection. It's a 'complete-the-catalogue' collection. That is understandable (desirable, even) from a purely funtional point-of-view, but not from a musical or 'historical' point-of-view. Perhaps we should just call it Items: Various.
