We've had a few threads on reducing The Beatles down to a single disc. But if you were tasked at the time with resequencing the album into two separate albums, which were released at separate times, how would you do it?

Anything can removed (as in, not all of the tracks have to be used). I wanted to free it up to include demos like "Sour Milk Sea", but let's stick to what was officially released at the time, shall we?

When I did this, I removed Honey Pie, Wild Honey Pie, Revolution 9, Good Night & Unfortunately Long, Long Long. It fit on an 80 minute CD.

I would split it generally along the lines of soft/acoustic and heavier songs. And include a few Esher demos on the soft/acoustic album, like "Child of Nature," "Circles" and "Junk."

Just do it like the Russians did in 1991: split it in two records and sell them separately.

(although there also was a proper double album version).

A bit harder than I thought, but I'm picturing a harder album for late 1968 followed up by a lighter, mellower one in early / mid 1969 (several things left off completely for B-sides as well):

    Album 1:

    Side A:
    Back In The U.S.S.R.
    Yer Blues
Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey
    While My Guitar Gently Weeps
    Happiness Is A Warm Gun
    Sexy Sadie

    Side B:
    Birthday
    Savoy Truffle
    Glass Onion
    Helter Skelter
    Revolution 9
Why Don't We Do It In The Road?

    Album 2:

    Side A:
    Dear Prudence
    Martha My Dear
    Piggies
    I'm So Tired
    Mother Nature's Son

    Side B:
    Revolution 1
    Blackbird
    I Will
    Long, Long, Long
Cry Baby Cry / Can You Take Me Back
    Julia

i would leave them as is, but just remove Revolution #9, as no one should have to listen to that crap on purpose, haha.

so disc 1 is one album
and disc 2 (minus Revolution #) is the 2nd album

everything is fine the way it is...no need to mess with it otherwise

Ringo suggested this two-album- thing in ' Anthology '
He suggested the albums be called : ' The White Album ' and ' The Whiter Album '

That Ringo --he's such a card.

  8. I would add Hey Jude and the single version ofRevolution replacing No. 9 then split it exactly as it was originally just disc 1 and 2.

It is already split into 2 albums, if you buy the vinyl.

you can make it sides 1 and 4 on one LP and 2 and 3 on another if you wish

  11. Some versions were like that because of those turn tables that would automatically drop the next disc on when the first disc was finished.

I would just go with one album if I was editing. I squeezed in 16 because some are pretty short.

    Back In The U.S.S.R.
    Dear Prudence
    Mother Nature's Son
Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey
    Piggies
    Sexy Sadie
    Martha My Dear
Cry Baby Cry / Can You Take Me Back

    Revolution 1
    Blackbird
    While My Guitar Gently Weeps
    Julia
    Helter Skelter
    I'm So Tired
    I Will
    Long, Long, Long

...yea but in all realness, you'd have to do it per "vinyl LP" and 80 minutes wouldn't work.:shake:

Well, students of history realize that’s why the Soviet Union disintegrated in 1991.

You don’t mess with the Beatles White Album.
There are far reaching consequences that will have to be dealt with .

Is it a coincidence that both of these things occurred in 1991? I think not.

    :D

I have e Russian pressing which keeps the double album intact..would this be prior to 1991? I actually thought all this time it was a 90's pressing.

Revolution #9 is one of the best songs on there. It's great for us people who want some edge, some experimentation instead of just ANOTHER album of pop songs

I like how “Beatles” is spelled in Russian right underneath on the cover, as if any young Russian in 1991 wouldn’t recognize the English spelling and identify the group immediately. I mean, they were no Scorpions, but...

Part of me likes the idea of an album of Esher demos followed up with another album of studio versions of the same songs, but I'm sure that would have been commercial suicide back then...

I put my 6 favorite John songs, 6 favorite Paul songs, 2 favorite George songs, and favorite Ringo song on the first album. I put the rest on the second album. Then I arranged them in something of a creative running order. Thusly:

    ALBUM ONE

    Side One:
    1. Dear Prudence
    2. The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill
    3. Rocky Raccoon
    4. Yer Blues
    5 . Blackbird
    6. Why Don't We Do It in the Road?
    7. Long, Long, Long
    8. Julia

    Side Two:
    1. Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey
    2. Martha My Dear
    3. Piggies
    4. Mother Nature's Son
    5. Happiness is a Warm Gun
    6. I Will
    7. Good Night

    ALBUM TWO

    Side One:
    1. Back in the U.S.S.R.
    2. Glass Onion
    3. Helter Skelter
    4. Revolution 1
    5. Don't Pass Me By
    6. Wild Honey Pie
    7. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
    8. I'm So Tired

    Side Two:
    1. Birthday
    2. Sexy Sadie
    3. Savoy Truffle
    4. Honey Pie
    5. Cry Baby Cry
    6. Revolution 9
