Yep, a date has been announced in my town as well: The Church - Starfish 30th Anniversary Tour - Tickets - Beachland Ballroom - Cleveland, OH - October 19th, 2018
Funny, Parallel Universe was literally the only Church CDs i did not own..found them cheap on Amazon..so now complete!
Disc 2 is an excellent and essential addition to anyone's Church collection. "Espionage", "Reward", "There You Go", "Twin Star", etc. Great stuff.
agree..i was actually surprised I did not have it..considering I even have a good part of Kilbey's solo work and side projects.
Boulder. Fox Theater: THE CHURCH - STARFISH 30TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR - Tickets - Fox Theatre - Boulder, CO - October 11th, 2018
Hopefully this means the Intervention Records pressing of Starfish will be released around the time the tour begins.
I enjoy many of the remixes on disc one too - Night Friends one is downright spooky and I like Numbers one quite a bit.
I'm in for the World Cafe Live show in Philly this October! The Church - Starfish 30th Anniversary Tour - Tickets - World Cafe Live Philadelphia - Philadelphia, PA - October 24th, 2018
I love Starfish but would have a hard time seeing them play that album without Marty. I really wish as a band they would just move forward and concentrate on the new material. To me it is an entirely different band
I wish I didn't agree, but I do. For me, the absence of Richard Ploog would be almost as big a drawback as Marty's absence. I mean, who's going to sing "Spark"? I remain a fan of the band (and really like the new album!), but I think I'd be more a 'cup-is-half-full' audience member seeing/hearing this line-up play that record.
They are in a position where they are doing both. They have to look to the past in order to pay the bills. I’m sure they are getting paid a lot more money for this tour than the one supporting Further/Deeper. And yet they are still releasing great albums like Man Woman Life Death Infinity.
I understand, and wish Peter Hook was still in New Order, Porl Thompson in The Cure, etc. U2 touring JT30 was special having the same band lineup. But I would rather have the current band lineup than no Starfish 30 tour at all.
Weird. The venue they are playing in Minnesota is small compared to where they have played the last couple of times through town. I would think this tour would generate more interest.
I think a lot of people are skeptical of the band sans Marty, especially doing classic material. Or maybe the band or promoters anticipated that.
For a band who replaced a popular member they sure are working a lot more than they have in a while .
I just stumbled across this from Marty's website. Anybody know if this was a limited thing or if it's still up and running? FREE Download Of All Marty Willson-Piper's Solo albums, MOAT, Seeing Stars And The Noctorum Project - Or Name Your Price - In Deep Music Archive Every time I try to buy it, it comes up with £4.99 by default. I'm not familiar with downloads at all so I'm wondering if I can actually change it to zero or if that was a limited offer (it was posted in 2013).
Anybody know if there exists a live recording of "Old Coast Road"? I've seen setlists posted (in this thread, I think) that include it, but I can't find anything. Would love to hear a live take of this track. I'm wondering if the lyrics are any more clear in a live setting... all the lyric sites give different guesses and none of them are remotely close to what I'm hearing.
Can't wait for this show and remaster of Starfish. Their last show in 2017 was great. I'm not sure how they're going to cover Marty's parts, but I'm sure it will happen.
When they did The Blurred Crusade live 2 years ago, Steve sang leads on Marty's song "Fields Of Mars", so I assume he will handle the vocals on "Spark".
