    Damn, what a cast.

This is a must see for us. Clooney back in the mix, and Fiennes. This looks like one of those convoluted plots that works so well for them.

Edit: Could one of the mods please fix the spelling on the thread title?

Think it's a case of the trailer being better than the actual film.

    H A I L. C A E S A R! ?

    Yes! I'll watch it.

You know, for all the freakin' COMMERCIALS I see for this....., it's only in, like, THREE theaters here in Vegas!

The PG-13 rating has me a bit concerned. Wasn't the last PG-13 Coen movie "Intolerable Cruelty"? I don't want another one that like that, which just came across as Coen-lite. But I'll give it a shot. I like the story idea.

I got excited when I first saw the trailer late last year. Then I thought, "Why wasn't it released for Christmas rather than early 2016?"

The movie has a 79% RT rating at the moment, which is a big surprise to me. It might be worth a look after all.

Saw it last night and didn't really like it. Occasionally amusing at best. Nice musical number with Tatum, and some lovely photography and period detail, but
I just didn't find it funny. Never really came together for me.

3 out of 4 stars here. The critic seemed to be saying it was too slapstick-y.

We'll probably go see it (gotta be better than Coldplay halftime show) but it strikes me as one of those Coens like Intolerable Cruelty or Burn Notice that just don't quite come together. When they don't get the tone just right, the silliness can be tedious.

The studio surrendered to the Hunger Games/Star Wars double-shot. Or... it sucks.

I dunno, does a February release automatically signify a movie's a stinker? I feel like a January release pretty much guarantees that, but February is not as clear-cut to me.

You mean Burn After Reading. I really like that one, but I agree Intolerable Cruelty didn't work very well.

Saw it. Best Coen Bros. in years.
But just like "Swimming with Sharks" or "Movers and Shakers" , it will only be that way to anyone who has been in the "business". Everyone else will just scratch their heads.

  25. Saw it last night and had a great time. Helps if you like classic films from the 40's/50's esp musicals and enjoy films that are about The Movie Biz. Seemed just a hair overlong and I think the voiceover was mostly unnecessary. Still, another feather in the Coen oeuvre.
