In the second half of the last verse of "Memory Motel", are the singer's friends trying to wake him to join their party, or do they fear he's done himself (or may do himself) harm?

Every woman seemed to fade out of my mind
I hit the bottle and hit the sack and cried
What's all this laughter on the 22nd floor?
It's just some friends of mine
And they're busting down the door

They're laughing, so how concerned can they be? But who (besides Keith Moon) busts down hotel doors to get parties going?

Just a party, spreading it’s bacchanalia from floor to floor, methinks.

I have found it best to not analyze rock and roll lyrics. They're just there so the singer can do something other than hit on the girlfriends and wives of the musicians. :shtiphat:

    Sometimes stuff just rhymes...

  5. To add to the mystery, that final verse is short a line at the end, relative to all the other verses. Maybe something was edited out that would have given clarification ;)
