I can't see what's in it for John Goodman or Laurie Metcalf who have great careers elsewhere to do a show that has lost a magnetic, but controversial, presence in Roseanne. Money is money but it won't be Roseanne level money.

Consistent weekly exposure on a national over-the-air TV network is huge. Just keeping yourself out there and in the spotlight is important and can lead to other things. And you never know when a show will be a hit and have a long run (like the original run of Roseanne did).

But then again, I stopped watching after about the first season in the original run of Rosanne.

The actors had contracts for the season and were going to get paid regardless. The writers and crew were not. It's good for them.

I don't know if they can keep the magic going. I am hopeful they can. John is a great actor. I'll give him a shot. It may only last one season, but at least he and Laurie will get some retirement money.

  5. I'm glad the old episodes are back on TV. The ban after Roseanne's tweet has finally ended.

And it’s sourced from the Daily Mail, so take it with a grain of salt.

Left, right, does not matter, decision makers are wayyyyy too reactive to things because of social media. In general (not talking about this particular incident), it's like you hear all the outrage on SM then step outside and go into the real world and everyone just humming along as normal. It's almost like SM is an alternate universe we choose to live in.

BTW, 2 or 3 episodes in, we'll all know the future of the spinoff (just like most shows).

  19. It's on CMT as well.

I don't get CMT anymore, which is why I said it’s only on TV Land.

And the information in the article comes only from anonymous "insiders" which should always be viewed suspiciously.

The article also mischaracterizes what happened. It makes it sound like they immediately decided to fire Roseanne and continue the show without her, when in reality they cancelled the show outright and had no intention of continuing. So it wasn't a case of them deciding "we don't need you to succeed" as the article implies. Rather, it was "we are willing to cancel this successful show because we dont need the bad publicity/image attached to it."

Twitter has a darker, much more dramatic trailer, including an intense front-porch confrontation between Dan and a new character played by Mary Steenburgen. I have a feeling Steenburgen’s character is
the woman who gave her son’s painkillers to Roseanne.

That’s a really tough trailer, wow. Makes me want to cry. I don’t care for Roseanne Barr, but I’m going to miss Roseanne Connor.
