So happy. I never usually have willpower on Record Store Day. And this year, they released The Cure Greatest Hits and Acoustic Hits records. I passed on them because they were lame picture discs.

It was announced yesterday that these will be pressed on black audiophole virgin vinyl. Love that I didn't buy the picture discs and can spend away to grab these. Wish Galore were also released as a hits package and would especially love a re-issue of "Wish"... but for these, I'll take it.

Good news! I was tempted to buy the LP's on RSD too, but got drawn away at the last minute by realizing these were picture discs. Glad to hear they are getting the audiophile treatment they deserve. Will pick up the acoustic hits for certain and the standard greatest hits lp too eventually.
Do you know when the black vinyl pressings will come out?

I'm interested in at least the greatest hits; the acoustic hits could be a bonus. Music Direct doesn't list either record in their preorders. Soundstage Direct does list them in their preorders but only says "Ships on release" with no date. Elusive Disc didn't list it either.

Saw them on Soundstagedirect. When you buy both,20a% off and free shipping. But didn't notice a date

Any idea what the versions are - just regular or truly acoustic?

Both have been on a 2CD set from the 2000s. Acoustic is acoustic and the greatest hits is the same as on CD

I would have also preferred Galore, but it is good these are getting standard vinyl release.

You can have my copy of Galore on vinyl, good song line up but have always found the sound a bit to bright and harsh for my liking.
Much prefer the 00's greatest hits/acoustic hits, a great go to collection of hits when you want a bit of the cure in one blast,
Standing on a beach is still my favourite though.
Sadly it's more then likely going to be pressed by GZ media, they are a bit better these days but it's still a lottery lucky dip on quality, plus they've never sorted out that issue of the jackets being too tight for the vinyl, particularly on gatefolds.
Will try acoustic hits on black vinyl, otherwise the picture discs will do for me, bit crackly & poppy (trademark GZ sound) but the background picture disc rumble is a fairly low level and the mastering is good.

Just grabbed the chance to buy the entire cure albums (almost), for £8 ($10) each. 2016 issues remastered by Robert Smith........beautiful.
I am aware that Universal were selling these of because of the upcoming re-issues with extra tracks, but my original albums were in poor condition.
Come on Robert, we need a new album!

I bought a couple too, to replace some well work originals, I did not know they were rereleasing with extra tracks. I don't see the point of that. Where did you buy your £8 ones? I still need the Top and Boys don't cry

If you consider they're a picture disc which is basically a thin sheet of clear vinyl over a picture and a empty vinyl inner (equivalent to something like a 10 gram vinyl) they sound amazing. Good sonics with detail..
And the other important thing is the background noise which is always there on picture discs is quite low.

Anybody pick it up? I have it and it sounds pretty great actually. Obviously sourced from digital, but it's not as loud and compressed as the CD version. I believe the hype sticker said it was remastered by Robert Smith. Pressing seems to be flat. Always get static on new records like these but I fixed with a good clean. Overall I am satisfied with it.

Do you know who cut it and where it was pressed?

picture discs are a different material altogether... I always, always badmouthed GZ too.. but then they did those Rolling Stones In Mono Boxed Sets worldwide and I love those... for these, it's likely the different, more fickle material rather than the pressing plant.

I'll buy Galore off of you for a fair price. If it's way too bright, I'd expect you wouldn't ask high price on Discogs...

Yes I want to know more about this! First I've heard....I'm aware of the Russian Vinyl Lovers double reissues but not Universal expanded reissues on vinyl

The omission of Fascination Street annoys me for some reason (even though it wasn't a UK single) and I can't abide this release as a result! ;-(

Not to mention, no "Pictures of You," according to the Amazon tracklisting. That's even more unforgivable.
