The Cure - Mixed Up (3CD) Remaster

Idk since I decided to wait for black vinyl, but somebody reported theirs came with DL code. Usually those are a little card inside the sleeve so double check.

 

Mine didn’t come with a download card (I was quite annoyed with this). Bought in the States, maybe UK copies have the card? Is it true that Mixed Up had download codes for both LPs? I didn’t buy the Mixed Up vinyl as I’ll be buying the 3CD set for those tracks.

 

The Wish deluxe remaster will most certainly have the Lost Wishes tracks. Here’s hoping that it’ll have the rest of the studio tracks from the sessions (maybe three more songs), including the “Tape” intro from the ‘92 tour, plus demos and the Music For Dreams tracks. What I hope it DOESN’T have is live versions — the tour was documented by two albums and a video (Show and Paris). A 3rd disc with the complete MTV Unplugged show would be the best thing ever — jeah, I can dream...

 

I would email Universal (or Rhino - cant recall who released this) and ask. Last year I did that with Elton's live 11-17-70 and they emailed me a code. Worth a shot.

 

It may be a region thing as well Jeff. A-ha LP's in the US didn't come with a DL, but Euro's did.

Does that 12" extended mix of "A Forest" appears on CD anywhere? It's not the same mix on that compilation.

 

Nobody posted on here that this set was delayed - my kids were trying to buy it for me for Fathers Day!

 

Sounds like some fan extended the album version a little bit. Don't think that this is something official.

 

Hmm dunno, the mix sounds different in certain aspects.

 

I checked discogs and can't find a 12" with that mix running time, weird.

 

That's a fanedit that's been around for years. It's not bad though.

 

Released today and just handed through my door along with the LPs.
Ripping disc 1 as I type.
Really looking forward to listening to the extras and to see how different they are to the original that I love.
Will leave the records for the weekend.

The 3CD set came today - not listened yet but the liner notes are decent

RS admits that he left off 3 of the original 12" mixes for various reasons

Lovecats because it's not a remix, it's just the full song and the single version was an edit of it
Primary because it's only an instrumental version intercut with the single version
In Between Days because they had no involvement with it. Someone at the US record company did it with a razor blade edit

He says the 3 missing mixes are "available in digital format" but I'm not sure where. Can't see them on the Spotify for example

And I'm confused as to where the 1990 Lovecats "TC & Benny" mix is from. Anyone know if that was ever officially released at the time?

 

Wow, that's a pleasant surprise! Off to order now.

 

Ah - to answer my own question, it looks like the TC & Benny mix was part of a limited free download album in 2001, so must have been an unused mix from 1990

Thanks for the info (ordered my copy yesterday). For me nevertheless a missed opportunity that these 3 mixes are missing. The red mix of Primary for example is already easy to find on CD while the original extended version remains unreleased. Sucks.

 

I predicted they would be on a microsite like the ones set up for Greatest Hits and Disintegration

Perhaps they will be made available online after “Meltdown”?

I never heard the original cd. Bought the 3 disc download today (24/44.1). Going to listen to the first disc now.

 

The CD set sounds great. A delightful surprise that the DR is nice and healthy.

I have to concur that it's a disappointment that the original long version of "Primary" is missing. Hope that microsite becomes active soon so I can get those missing three cuts
