I'm a bit foggy on all my Doors shows, but I'm trying to recall which show had Jim having some fun and you hear Ray yelling "Jim, knock it off" in the background.

I think that is from the Seattle show.

Sounds about right, that would fit with the mood of that show.

Again, I'm a bit out of touch with all these Doors shows, been a few years since I was down in the weeds.

Anyone know of any particularly long scat-singing sections from a live Roadhouse Blues? Seems like there was one where Jim went longer than usual.

Also, if I recall correctly that section was edited out of the '97 box set version from NYC!

I thought it was pretty uncalled for. As I wrote in another thread, Detroit ran on too long. Whatever they were trying to conjure up during the encore just wasn't happening.

I finally finished my long Doors playlist, and the last parts were concerts I've been to of Robby and Ray and then just Robby. As much as I love Ray as a musician, there was something too over the top and goofy about his banter and antics when I saw him and Robby (at what would turn out to be one of their last shows together.) The fact that they had a cheap Morrison impersonator for a lead singer was kinda weird too. He may have been the singer, but he wasn't the front man, and he spoke very little. By comparison, Robby's Doors show that I saw was fun but not "funny." Plus, his son is as much a front man as a singer, and of course has a good rapport with the group! I saw them in Tarrytown almost 3 years ago and would definitely go again but I just haven't been able to.

I had dinner with Ray and Michael McClure in the 90s. He was a cool guy to talk to and very amiable with fans, but he was almost brainwashed with his own Morrison mythologizing.

I'm listening to the first Aquarius show now, just got it in the mail. Sounds really nice. Jim is focused and the band is on fire ...I love these untampered with recordings.

Besides The Matrix Box what live release would you want to see after that which is feasible?

Everything in their possession, starting at the beginning. Especially things previously unknown to trading communities.

I'd like a truly scary early 1968 show.

LA Forum '68 or MSG '69 would be fantastic - or even something from the early November '68 midwest dates, as the post-Europe, pre-Miami shows definitely seemed kind of transitional. Plus, with LA and NY, you'd get the horns & strings. But unfortunately, there are apparently no soundboards. Ultimately, I'd really be down with anything pre-'70 other than Dallas or New Orleans.

Hey, if they're redoing Matrix, I'll vote for a redone Wight. The current CD is a joke.
