The Doors: "The End" one take or spliced from two?

Anyone know if The Doors' "The End" is from one take or spliced from two?

I have read that it was actually spliced together from two takes but have never been able to hear any edits.....

Yes--Botnick is brilliant!! When you listen to the field recordings he did at The Aquarius Theater in 1969--they are absolutely stunning. It's remarkable how good those 8 track live recordings sound.

6 CDs from the Aquarius concerts have been issued on The Doors boutique label "Bright Midnight." Recommeded (especially the 2nd performance--great show!)

 

It sounds to me like there might be edits at about 2:49 and 3:13 but that's far less than the 10% of the song that Steve says the edit part is.

 

I'd rather not know where the edit is. I don't could the track the same way if I did.

 

It doesn't really matter to me, either. If I had to venture a guess (without listening to the song) I will say the poetry part from "the killer awoke before dawn" part to "the blue bus" (and the swearing stuff).
