Though I enjoy the extra scenes, it's great that the original U.S. cut is finally getting a Blu-ray release. And the original mono, too!

I sincerely hope we will soon see properly remastered versions of the first two films in the Dollars trilogy.

Wonder if the color timing will be correct. There was an uproar over the last version that came to BD.

Looks like Fox/MGM are pretty much out of the reissue game.
That's fine with me since most of the other companies that are handling the transfers do a better job than them anyway.

Word in the street is this one will be the yellowized version too.

4k seems like overkill for a film shot in 2-perf Techniscope, but I'm all for getting it out there looking correct in any format.

Update: Never mind. They did the digital transfer/clean-up/etc. in 4k, but the release will be a regular 1080p Blu-ray mastered from the 4k source. *That* makes sense.

I'm curious how big a TV one would need for a 4k version of this shown at 2.35:1 with the bars on the top and bottom.
The first time I saw this on a 52" tv 1080P I decided I needed a bigger TV. I might be happy with my current 70" at 1080P but that may even seem small. I haven't purchased a movie in 10 years, but this might trigger a buy.

I made the same incorrect assumption above. It is not being released in 4k. It is being released on a 1080p Blu-ray mastered from a 4k source.

@Ken_McAlinden , my thought was probably off topic and meant more in general terms but they apply to this movie. The thought being, what size tv is needed for a 2.35:1 aspect ratio that is used fully?

I'm glad they are keeping this aspect ratio. Scenes where there are four or more people work great in this aspect ratio. They may look smaller than we are used to seeing them because we are so used to seeing at most, two people in a scene. There is so much width to see in this movie. Can you tell that I enjoy the way it was shot? :D

Every time the studios have the chance to do their Leone titles right.
And every single time they muck it up somehow. This one will be no exception despite finally promising the International '66 cut.

Thanks for posting the good news.

I much prefer the original theatrical version in the USA and look forward to see that restored in hi-def.

    Magnificent music score, too.

Make sure you have 4k TV with High Dynamic Range, as well as size.
Not that it is relevant in this case, as itnow seems that this is not a UHD blu ray.

As long as the international theatrical cut isn't yellow like that last awful blu-ray, then I'm in.

Way off topic, but you've hit the nail on the head. Even if you had a 90" diagonal 16:9 panel, would the 60% or so scope aspect films have enough screen height? And is it right that Game of Thrones will be "bigger" than The Hateful Eight?

I rented the Blu-ray from Netflix recently. I'm not sure which one they have, but I watched it twice, and thought it looked great.

Any news on this release? I was not able to find any on my own, but everyone on this site always seems to have better sources than I do.
