No, no, no. Next year will be the February 1971 Capitol Theater box set. Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease.
Did that run have multi-track recordings for all nights, or just 2/19? edit-- haha, great minds @Crush87 !
Based on what has been released on Skull & Roses, Ladies & Gents, and Vault 3: The Cap run in February, a Winterland show in March, the Manhattan Center shows in April, and the final shows at the Fillmore's East and West in April and July respectively.
The acoustic demo of Unbroken Chain came up on my shuffle just now. Not a fan of Phil singing but he was fairly decent on the acoustic, plus he was thoughtful enough to call out the chord changes. I'll have to give it a go after I get my axes restrung on Saturday. Let there be song (s) to fill the air.
Thats a great idea. I will have to tackle that. I really need to better understand working in i-tunes.
On a mac: ITunes->preferences->general At the bottom it says "when a cd is inserted". On the right there is a button for "import settings". Click that. Choose "apple lossless encoder" from the drop down menu.
Some confusion reigns. Is that actually Phil on guitar or Jerry or what? Hes talking to someone during the song so i always wonder. Its either on Chain or Pride.
That's Phil playing guitar, singing, and calling out the chord changes. It's a demo tape he made for the band to learn the song.
The "British Bluesy" line that starts the solo segment on Unbroken Chain is in 11: F.G..F.G...G.FG.C..Bb..GCBbGBb.. The chordal line is a bar of 7, then a bar of 8 (or break into two bars of four, if you prefer), based mostly on: |Dm7 CMaj7| Gm7 FMaj7 Emin7| ..||||.......|||.......||||......||'........'| This is from the released studio version, not the demo, which is a bit choppy.
Tonight, scenes from d1 and d3 of Road Trips 1.2 (October '77). H>S>F, LIG, Loser, Scarlet>Fire, Estimated, TMSN, Half-Step. Last Help>Slip! until 1983. Sounded good enough to me ...
I was in the house. Jerry also played on Three Wishes (he also played on the studio version off of Virgin Beauty) during Ornette and Prime Time's opening set. A bucket list moment for me to see that live.
Eyes from DaP 18 and then I'll finish out the volume, tomorrow. Tomorrow, tomorrow, more Jerry, tomorrow, you're only an hour and 41 minutes away. I've been fighting a lingering cold or mild flu maybe for too long now and I think I'm losing my marbles.
Who needs marbles when yer stronger than dirt and milking' the turkey? Get better soon and enjoy DaP 18. Coincidentally, I am deep into that one myself and listening to The Other One at the moment and headed toward Eyes...
There are almost 3000 '78 boxes available one year after release (as I wrote in the '78 thread) I do not think that April has more appeal than Red Rocks and three brand new and unheard SDBs. I'm very skeptical about another '78 box
