Listened again to the Scarlet from 5/11/78. It really is quite brilliant but one wonders why they go so quickly into Fire before they even get to 10 minutes. They are in an uber melty mode and it seems to me there is at least another 3 to 5 minutes of unplayed brilliant music yet to be played.....
That is the famous Mescaline Show. You'll have to hallucinate the rest of the Scarlet jam on your own.
Vibes in my sent folder. I've been listening to a lot of Bobby "Blue" Bland lately so I feel compelled to send this along: When I want a Pigpen kick in the butt this Lovelight always hits me great; in fact from Stage Banter on is the bees knees to me, although far from audiophile! (the rest is mostly even more grim sounding) International Speedway on 1969-12-28
Nice write up. Thanks. I have mentioned this once or twice before, but we were living in Portland at the time and my mom and dad went to this event. There's a 50% chance they brought me a long with them - they don't remember (which means they were there, ha!) - but it's cool to think that 4-year-old me may have been at this concert. Even if I wasn't, knowing my folks were makes it kinda sentimental for me...
When they make the movie, you will definitely be there. Pigpen will call you up on stage. There won't be a dry eye in the house.
So I might be gone for a while guys. I just scored Utopia tickets and my head is floating away from my body in excitement. Still downloading more Dead though. I'm never done with that.
Yea, so the set II segment from Estimated on through Around in this 6/25 show is out of control! Admittedly, I never dug into this one?!? Thanks! The space segment is stellar. Serious. Wow, even a nod to the tiger in there. Phil detonations. Everything that is great about May is cooked up in this one. High octane. ....and the Minglewood smokes!
Never wrote about Saturday night's JRAD show at the Riviera in Chicago. Outstanding from start to finish. They are really doing interesting and innovative work with the GD songbook. Other than Bertha, every song had at least one long jam which completely broke away from the conventional structure of the song. I'm hoping a soundboard eventually circulates (this show wasn't webcast), but until then this is a good enough sounding AUD. Set 1 1 The Wheel - 21:52 2 Black-Throated Wind (with Jack Straw reprise) - 14:12 3 Bertha - 09:45 4 Loser - 11:19 5 Blues Jam - 07:16 6 Easy Wind - 05:36 7 Viola Lee Blues - 15:48 Set 2 8 Cats Under the Stars - 12:56 9 Thrown' Stones - 23:12 10 He's Gone - 09:49 11 Truckin' - 12:53 12 Mississippi 1/2 Step - 13:38 Enc: 13 Dancin' in the Streets - 17:49
I hope something is announced between now and then. Or I’d be happy with them turning the downloads back on finally! Does anybody know if the hi res July 78 box has higher DR than the CD version like last years 77 box?
Now playing: Garcia Live vol 10. Hawaii 1990. Not exactly a fan of that era but it sounds nice. I don't anyone is going to be dissapointed
Patiently waiting for mine to arrive.... should be any day now. As i sit on the back porch this lovely Friday morning, I'm listening to the acoustic set of DP8 (5/2/70) on vinyl. The birds, not the Byrds, are singing harmony parts on Dire Wolf . Just lovely
Yup, I got the same cancellation email yesterday. I guarantee that I'll forget to use that voucher before it expires. On the off chance that Dead.net really screws this up and sent one of you lucky folks 2 Warlocks box sets (and you only ordered 1) I'd be happy to buy the 2nd one for a reasonable price! (sorry, just had to throw it out there - especially after reading about the E'72 boxes being shipped after folks canceled their orders)
I doubt anyone is receiving a box. But who knows we might end up with an unexpected free package one day. I would certainly take an unwanted box off someone’s hands as well
