I mean Im a big fan but by no means a deadhead. What does it mean? What does this mean? Ran a canteen...
And the good news is that only one of those came with a bonus disc (4.3 with the 2011 subscriber disc). Of course it's a monster with that wild 43+ minute Dark Star.
That's probably the most essential bonus disc they ever put out. If there was ever an argument for re-releasing those, there it is (I still don't get the argument against it...)
Foxboro 7-14-90 and Eugene 6-23-90 are the best shows of that summer tour. I remember the baby doll on the big screen during space. It was a hand puppet, I believe. They played this sweet music and everyone giggled and sighed at the cute baby, and then the music got creepy and demented as they made the baby's face collapse inward. Sick bastards.
LOL, Best line I've read in ages. I resemble that remark.... If I was a bit more techno adept I'd create a Homer Simpson "Mmmmmm, mainlining wolf" meme. Alas, it'll have to stay in my brainscape.
23 June 1974- Jai Alai Fronton, Miami. Aren't we pretty close to the Bermuda Triangle around here? - Phil Lesh
Do you ever have a month where you ending buy much more Dead stuff than you planned? Since my last pay day 3 weeks ago I’ve bought Ace, Skull and Roses and Dead Set on vinyl Dicks Picks 5 View from the Vault 2 and 3 soundtracks (I suppose I need to track down 4 now) Jerry and Howard Wales Side Trips CD Plenty for me to listen to on holiday time though
I did, I remember Santana being a lot better than the Dead that day, but I will listen to it again and see if I still think it was a mediocre show. Haven't heard it in decades....
Proposed as a Dick's Picks in the early days of the series but rejected by Phil, to Dick's annoyance. The Dark Star was included in So Many Roads.
That and the one on the Beyond Description box are two of the most relevant bonus discs. Of course, they are among the ones I don't have
Ha! Just listened to that yesterday. Bermuda Triangle indeed. I think there's as much tuning/dead air in the first half hour of the show as actual music. Pretty sure my old cassettes had a lot of that edited out....
I really hope Phil mends his ways with that show. It's a monster and should be released properly. You know, fan demand and that.
Speaking of 6.23.90, hey! That was 28 years ago today! Brent's penultimate West Coast show (and my penultimate Brent show). Come for the Eyes, stay for the Dew... I: Feel Like A Stranger, West L.A. Fadeaway, Me & My Uncle> Cumberland Blues, Far From Me, They Love Each Other, Cassidy, Tennessee Jed> Promised Land II: Eyes Of The World> Looks Like Rain> Crazy Fingers> Playin' In The Band> Uncle John's Band> Playin' Reprise> Drums> Space> The Wheel> I Need A Miracle> Morning Dew E: One More Saturday Night
Here's a picture of Garcia with the Ibanez. 'Shine the fuse, light your shoes.' Was there someone else joining in on backing vocals on US Blues? Dicks Picks 5 convinced me that Brent is alright. I hope you didn't pay too much for Side Trips - everytime I correspond with the Garcia people I mention they should re-release that on CD (They did the vinyl for RSD last year, IIRC.)
