I can accept some of the little lyrical variations but "Sleeping and PERCHANCE to dream" is non-negotiable.
Do we have proof it's a fish? I've seen a version of a 'scratcher' that's just a stick. I don't like the anachronism. It has to be something from a song that's played at the show. That would work if they do a Boston 69 box and include the December shows. You should probably avoid the version by Joseph Hill.
That was pretty cool, I don't always love 'bobby does Jerry' but I'm glad he's getting Days Between out there. It's a great song and yet another reason to investigate 90s Dead. Does anyone here have plans to check out that Bobby and the Wolf Bros tour? (I didn't realize until just now that drummer Jay Lane was also the drummer for Colonel Les Claypool's version of Pink Floyd's Animals, which basically killed off any reason I had to listen to Floyd anymore.)
On early versions of Althea Jerry sang: "Honest to the point of innocence..." See: 6 September 1979- MSG, for an example.
Down in Laredo TX currently. No Dead so far this trip - sorry guys. Hope you all are well and groovin and what not
Are you heading, by chance, for the West Texas town of El Paso? Mind the rain and floods over there, that's some serious stuff going on. Stay safe!
That's probably why it changed, but the original word has always stayed with me. And in some ways innocence and recklessness can be closely related, especially in regards to how men relate to women.
Shout out to 10.19.89 Spectrum - was not there but it being one of the first batch of Fall Tour cassettes we scored out west we wore it out.
I would like to see Felina but god, please, dont ever make me go to El Paso again. Its like going to the end of the earth.
I have a ticket for the Philly show in November, but I’m not sure yet if I’m going to go. I figured I’d listen to some of the preceding shows and then decide.
A number of good things can follow a Dark Star, but I’ve been conditioned through repeated listening to Live/Dead in my formative years to prefer that to be St. Stephen and The Eleven.
First I was thinking Caution (Do Not Stop on Tracks) is an incredibly good thing. Then I thought I wonder how many times it was played (in some form) after Pigpen. The answer, if the SetList Program is correct, is five: 09/18/74- Parc des Expositions - Dijon, France 10/19/74- Winterland Arena - San Francisco, CA 10/22/78- Winterland Arena - San Francisco, CA 10/27/79- Cape Cod Coliseum - South Yarmouth, MA 05/06/81- Nassau Coliseum - Uniondale, NY
Can’t think I can give a full commentary at this time so I’ll pass on what I think are a few nuggets: First off sound at Tower Theatre downstairs a few rows behind the Pit is OK but nothing like Capital Theatre Balcony. Joe’s drum sound not nearly as beastly last night. Truckin’>TOO to end set 1 was superb Alligator>Scarlet>GDTRFB>Fire was about an hour and the highlights were the jam within Alligator which was smoking burning hot and then the long creative FOTM which was probably over 25 minutes long Beginning of Dancing in The Streets deepest groove this side of Hamid Drake from 15 feet away. The whole thing was extraordinary and as mentioned above Row Jimmy was like a modern day Morning Dew. The boys really accentuated what is a gorgeous Jerry tune and made it their own with full respect to the source. The peak jam before the last verse and famous end-game bridge was priceless. This sequence was about 35 minutes plus. I was worn out and spent - I’m still recovering from the 2 hour drive home even with the day off and an nap
