    Hi all.
As the description says above, this is the thread for all things Hammond organ. You can share songs that feature it, history facts, and photos of your Hammond, etc. I have an M3, and the organist in my band has an E311.
    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Right!! Didn’t he play a modified C3?

I've got a Leslie 122 in my laundry room, still looking for a cheap M3 to go with it.

Was Sugarloaf "Green Eyed Lady" the first recorded example of someone stalling a Hammond to bend the pitch, or did someone else do it first?

Oh, wow!! Those 122s are rare and very coveted! You need a kit for the M3 to power the 122. My keyboardist also has an L100 and a 142, which is the short version of the 122.

To answer your question about the motor stall, I think you’re right. Bad on the tonewheel motor for sure.

Julie Driscoll and Brian Auger & Trinity "This Wheels on Fire". The piano, Hammond organ and Mellotron parts are awesome.

The song I posted above is just a Hammond organ, drums, brass section, and of course Arthur Brown’s wacky vocals. The bass was on the pedals.

One of my favourite songs ever. Pete Townshend co-produced it.

Mike Reed on YouTube has played the Hammond since the sixties and had a few albums out around that time. He has a later model Grandee in his home and is prolific with his videos - watch that left foot go! :D

Shirley Scott, Queen of the Organ - IMHO SS is a vastly underappreciated practitioner of her craft.

I saw Lee Michaels live in 1969, and it was just him and his drummer Frosty, no guitar, no bass.

They weren’t needed. That organ filled the room with the most gut shaking amazingly full satisfying sound that a guitar would have sounded wimpy.:D

One more favorite band of mine with a Hammond and then I’ll leave, I swear!:D

I liked these guys so much that I saw them two nights in a row in 1969.

Instead of “Evil Woman” I’ll post this one:

This one was the one that got me hooked.
I don't play but love the sound. How does he get that 'click' sound on his organ?

  25. Tom Coster in Santana sure got some weird sounds out of it on albums like "Welcome" and "Illuminations" (Santana/A. Coltrane). Is there a particular name for those stops he used? I've never heard other players use it in rock music.
